Subject: Lyr Add: Without That Night
From: Jerry Rasmussen
Date: 24 Dec 03 - 11:39 AM

Three or four years ago, I had a dream as Christmas was fast approaching. I dreamt that I was in Bethlehem, and it was Christmas Eve. I wanted to go worship the new-born baby Jesus, so I worked my way out to the edge of town and walked out into the open fields. I figured that the manger would be easy to find, because I could look for the Star of Bethlehem. But, as I left the town, everything was dark. There wasn't a single star in the sky. But, somehow I managed to find my way to the stable. When I opened the door and looked in, the stable was empty... nothing but a black void.

I woke up with a start, my heart racing, and I said to myself, "Without that night, what would my life be?" I was shaking in anguish, and I just sat there in bed, repeating that same question, over and over again. And then the lines started to come..
"Without that night, tell me what would life be? Without that man from Galilee? And this is the song that flowed from me... a Christmas gift from the Lord.

WITHOUT THAT NIGHT

Without that night, tell me what would life be?
Without that man from Galilee?
No star to guide us safely through
Without Jesus, can you tell me.. what would you do?

CHORUS:

And when you awake in the morning. who would guide you through your day?
And who would be there beside you, if you needed to kneel down and pray?
Could you find any hope in tomorrow? Could you face the future alone? When you come the end of your journey, who'd be there to carry you home?

If the stable was empty, all quiet and still
With no star brightly shining on the crest of the hill
No angels to sing of his glory devine
No Wise Men to travel, the baby to find

Without his love, and the price that he paid
Who could you turn to, your soul to save?
He is my light in the darkness, my calm in the storm
Sweet Jesus, blessed Sabious, I thank God you were born

I post these lyrics for those who know Jesus, but my love goes out to all my friends.. those who are agnostics, those who are Atheists, those who carry deep scars from a life of mistreatment in the name of Jesus Christ, the cynics, the hardened-hearted, even those who greet Christmas with obscenities.

Look beyond the hypocrisy and the commercialism and may this be a season where love fills your heart. There will never be peace on earth, but I wish you love in your heart, and send mine.

Jerry
