There is a Dubliners recording of a tune of this name from 1965 info here don't know if its the right one though!

The song del boy is referring to is the Chris Leslie/Fairport one nominated as Best Original Song in the Folk Awards as performed by Bob Fox.

It's written in the first person from the point of view of the man parted from his love by emigration, as opposed to the traditional song of the same name from the woman's perspective recorded perhaps most famously by Dolores Keane

I've just checked Bob Fox's site and Fairport's but chords are not there, unfortunately.
