Our local taxidermist is named Reg Brain. It would be wonderful if he had a brother named "Dick"...with a bad leg.

Really!

Here at the University where I work, there's an employee named Candy Hart (actually Candice, but she really calls herself Candy)—and another named Sandy Beach (Sandra). I once knew someone named Dusty Rhodes (I think her real name was Dorothy).

The Car Talk Guys—Tom & Ray Magliozzi—who call their parent company Dewey, Cheetham & Howe—have a great list of names they've used in their "credits" at the end of the show. But it looks like they've reorganized their website recently, and some links are broken, so I wasn't able to make the correct page come up. If you want to go looking for it, you might start here: http://cartalk.cars.com/menus/show.html

I heard the other day of a Mr. & Mrs. Royds who called their daughter Emma. (It's true - not a word of a lie).

And here is a North of England one, courtesy of Victoria Wood:

Don't you lot watch The Simpsons??? Some of Bart's calls to Moe's Tavern are perfect, such as:-

Bea O'Problem
Amanda Huggenkiss
Hugh Jass (That one backfired, cos there WAS a person with that name!)

Those are the ones I can remember.

Also, has anyone heard of the book "Police: A Beginner's Guide" by Laura Norder? :-)))

My daughter's former headmaster was called Alan Key. He even had a personalised plate on his car!
Last night my friend told me that her local vet (as in doggy doctor) is called Jack Russell, and says he's heard all the jokes.

Orson Cart.
I like those real names that you come across occassionally that sound like someone famous and that usually belong to someone bordering on strange.

A kid from my childhood.......Mickey Splane. Poor Mickey couldn't have been further from his (almost) namesake Mickey Spillane, a name which conjured up images of tough, smart-mouthed, gun carrying P.I.'s.
No, my Mickey was boss-eyed with a speech impediment and some behavioral problems.

A couple of names I have come across at work.......Vera Flynn and Nora Leytion(Lay-shun) make me smile.

Self fulfilling prophesy indeed. She robbed a bank.
