Subject: RE: KATHRYN ROBERTS + S. LAKEMAN TOUR : JAN From: GUEST,Steffi Date: 10 Jan 04 - 09:13 AM It's defintately cheaper to get the discs from their gigs. I've got both 1 and 2 and they are both top notch. Rosie Ann from 2 is my folk track of the moment. |
Subject: RE: KATHRYN ROBERTS + S. LAKEMAN TOUR : JAN From: GUEST,Eddie Date: 10 Jan 04 - 05:41 AM Yep, '2' is a cracking CD, just follw the web links on the orrigional post to buy it direct from the artists. For me too, Kathryn has always sung the socks off her younger contemporaries. Give it another decade, think Tabor, Prior, Collins, the music lives in these women and it's alive and well in Kathryn too. |

I had trouble finding it but I got a copy from fishrecords.co.uk. I see that it is album of the week for folk on 2 this coming week. We need to keep these two on these shores a bit more. Also Kathryn sings great on the new Emilly Slade CD 'Fretless'. |
Subject: RE: KATHRYN ROBERTS + S. LAKEMAN TOUR : JAN From: GUEST,elfman fisher Date: 09 Jan 04 - 01:43 PM If Rusby bashing is still on the agenda, Kathryn always sang the pants off the other K.R. but always seemed to take a lesser role. I saw Kathryn and Sean with Equation at Cropredy last year where they rocked of field who wondered where the hell they had been hiding. It turns out they went to the US. It certainly seemed to really polish their craft. I'll go see em in Brum. |
Subject: RE: KATHRYN ROBERTS + S. LAKEMAN TOUR : JAN From: GUEST,Strollin' Johnny Date: 09 Jan 04 - 12:41 PM Give me quality over quantity every time, and Kathryn's Quality-On-A-Stick! The alternative is to make Sean play with a felt pick! (Don't know if you can still get them, but they were available in the 60's). |
Subject: RE: KATHRYN ROBERTS + S. LAKEMAN TOUR : JAN From: breezy Date: 09 Jan 04 - 12:33 PM As long as you can hear what she's singing. Sean said he'ld come to the Moorland folk club on the 15th feb as its his local club. |
