Subject: Lonnie J in Japanese! From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 12 Jan 04 - 04:46 AM I recently bought a Lonnie Johns CD called Hot Fingers (Vol 14 in the Peavine King of the blues series). When I unwrapped it I found the inner liner notes are all in Japanese! If any 'Catter has an English version they'd be prepared to scan or copy the notes from I'd be grateful. The tracklist on the outer cover is in English. There are several compilations of his with this title this one starts with:Hot Fingers/Deep Minor/Love story blues and ends with Blue Blood Blues/Handful of riffs/Unselfish love. Subject: RE: Lonnie J in Japanese! From: masato sakurai Date: 12 Jan 04 - 09:27 PM I have that CD. It is a compilation made in Japan for Japanese. 20 numbers are selected from Document's Lonnie Johnson: Complete Recorded Works, 7 vols. (DOCD 5063-5069), and 2 others (9 & 10) are added from other sources. Notes, which are something like short reviews of each number, were written by a Japanese; they're not a translation. ~Masato |

Subject: RE: Lonnie J in Japanese! From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 13 Jan 04 - 10:58 AM Thanks, Masato, do they add any personnel not listed on the back? I'm sure there is a piano on one track otherwise uncredited, for example. RtS |
