Subject: new folk music store From: s&r Date: 16 Jan 04 - 05:53 AM Just found out that Steve Noone ex Music Room and Dave Mallinson has set up a web store. I like the guy, and have always found him helpful and knowledgeable: i'd like to recommend him to mudcatters (BTW I have no connection; I just hope his website is as good as the other businesses) Stu |

Subject: RE: new folk music store From: s&r Date: 16 Jan 04 - 11:00 AM Sorry - my original post could have been read that Steve Noone is currently working with Mally - he was with him some years ago, then with Music room Stu |

Subject: RE: new folk music store From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 16 Jan 04 - 06:19 PM They don't have a direct index to "music books", but do have some very interesting books under the individual sections. Some of the Piano accordion books are interesting. they have a few "beginning P/A" books, but they doubtless all assume that the muso has no previous musical experience. Subject: RE: new folk music store From: Dave Hanson Date: 17 Jan 04 - 07:37 AM Both of them are good guys, Steve plays a mean tenor banjo and Mally is a real stunner on the melodeon, bothe very knowlegable and very helpful. eric |

Subject: RE: new folk music store From: Manitas_at_home Date: 18 Jan 04 - 04:01 AM Is Mally involved? I didn't see his name on the website and I thought he sold the Music Room to concentrate on music publishing. |

Subject: RE: new folk music store From: s&r Date: 18 Jan 04 - 06:58 PM No, mally's not part of the new store - I think my original post was at fault for not being very well phrased; it appeared as though Steve and Mally had joined forces if you read it that way. Apologies to any and all who were misled. This is what I think is the correct history: Steve Noon took over from Mally and formed the Music Room with partners from Oakwood. Steve and wife and daughter have started a new business and are no longer part of the Music Room which continues in Cleckheaton Oxford and Nottingham. Mally is a force in folk music publishing, and produces very nicely designed books. Stu |
