c///c///c///c///c///c///g///g///
g7///g7///g7///g7///g7///g7///c///c///
c///c///c///c///c///c7///f///f///
f///f///c///f///g///g///c///c///

Try that for basics - same chords for verse as chorus.

As I don't read or write music it's a bit difficult to explain in words ,but there are many "part" chords (normal tuning) - but it's not complicated.
I play in D with a Capo on the 2nd , Vin plays in G , Leadfingers obviously likes to play in C - possibly - to suit the voice range.
When I say "part" chords ( perhaps they're full chords I don't know ) try this for an example - play A7 , and with the finger which holding the E string (1st string) - stretch that finger to cover the first 2 strings. So alternate between both positions and you have the part which goes:- (with 2 fingers) "Once we'd " (with one finger) "found a key"....(with 2 fingers)"Oh what a " (with one finger) "harmony" etc etc.
Wish I could write music, or better still sit down and show you - even a couple of sketches would help you !!.
Never mind - have fun with the song - and don't forget THAT - no matter how you play it HAVE FUN WITH IT !!!

Pete - I just put down a basic chord run that will fit the tune. Obviously there are more complicated ways of playing any thing, but in my opinion that is up to whoever is sorting the song out. You could play a different full chord for each note if you wanted to, but
if someone wants chords to a song, its up to them how they want tp play about. Hence the very basic chords I shoved in. And I used C because thats the easiest to transpose from the way I do things.
And Why not join ??

Thanks for the help, Leadfingers. I don't worry about the exact key either; I would write Leadfingers's chords as :

I///I///I///I///I///I///V///V///
V7///V7///V7///V7///V7///V7///I///I///
I///I///I///I///I///I7///IV///IV///
IV///IV///I///IV///V///V///I///I///

Over the years, I have learned the hard way to transpose keys, so as to accompany the megalomaniac lead player, on the fiddle, squeeze box, or singing or whatever. I normally sing in G (or A, if things threaten to go too low).

Nutty /Leadfinger ,
I don't know how to go about the Membership "thing"- I wouldn't mind posting a few songs to Mudcat.
The rest of you - keep playing how,and and using whatever Chords /Keys and method suits you.
If the listener happens to like it - that's a bonus , primarily, be happy and content in your music making - it's a wonderful gift you have been given.
Thanks for your offer Breezy - one day maybe , one day!!.

Obviously not a very bright muso, GUEST, certainly not polite - the song title is what the thread title says, and if you were literate enough to read the first post, then it would have also been self evident....

Might have been funny if ... er well.....

Robin
