I've been asked to mention this: PLEASE don't call the Old Town School Of Folk Music looking for tickets. NONE are available now. And it might be some time before anything like tickets are available.

I just checked the Old Town School website and it said "pending," so it may not be possible to buy tix yet. At least I couldn't online.

There's also this listed at the Old School site:

Join Chris Farrell and the rest of the Six-String Social gang Friday, February 6th at 6:00PM at the 909 West Armitage building, as we celebrate the songs Fred loved. I don't know if this is part of their FIRST FRIDAY, since that seems to happen in the bigger, newer building on Lincoln; I'm confused!

MAG, can you look into this and clarify what's happening on the 6th, where, and whether it's an open jam or a concert?

I believe it is part of their regular First Friday strumalong deal. People are going to play songs they learned from Fred and people can at least sing along. He was the singalong guy in Chicago.

From Fred's website (link above):

Saturday, April 3 at 4:30pm, the "Remembering Fred Holstein" memorial concert will be held at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago, hosted by Ed Holstein and Ray Nordstrand and featuring live performances by many of Fred's friends.

Tickets will be sold beginning at 9:30am, Friday, February 27 on a first-come, first-served basis thru the box office 773-728-6000, or in person at both 4544 N. Lincoln and 909 W. Armitage and thru
www.ticketweb.com. All seats $10, four ticket limit. Proceeds will support Fred Holstein Scholarships for students at the Old Town School. The event will be broadcast live on WFMT 98.7FM.

The Old Town School link is not working at the moment-- don't know how the tix situation has gone, if they are sold out or what, but at Ticketweb it loooks like it IS sold out.
