What and where has been the best and most memorable music/dance/song workshop of any nature that you have attended and what did you get out of it ? One of mine was recently which utilised words from the old classics (Dandy & Beano) to formulate a song and music.

Best workshop I ever went to was a Spoons-playing workshop at Gosport Festival. The spoonsplayer was very encouraging & extolling the virtues of this instrument you could keep in your back pocket & take everywhere. His mate who was providing a banjo accompaniment was desperately trying to dis-encourage us by repeatedly telling us how much we would upset the real musicians (I think he was worried about unleashing a horde of clatter-monsters onto the local sessions).
Both very nice blokes, and you could definitely see both points of view. Clang Clang clackety Clang

You've reminded me of one I attended a few years ago this was also with spoons and various percussion instruments. The guys running it had trawled various charity shops to get 25 sets of spoons. Good idea - very enjoyable.

A guitar workshop with Julie Ellison, now my partner in life and record label. Sometimes you get more than you bargained for ...

Julie would say a guitar workshop with Woody Mann, which set her off on the route of doing crazy rearrangements of classical pieces (like her ragtime version of "Romance".

I also rated guitar workshops I attended run by Roger Wilson (on guitar arrangements to support a song) and Steve Tilston (a general question and answer session that opened more doors than I new existed on the instrument).

Oh, and a drumming/percussion workshop with Kate Howden (from Howden Jones) - meant for children - I felt at home!

All the best
