Subject: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: Tam the Bam (Nutter) Date: 28 Jan 04 - 12:36 PM Rikki Fulton was a unique Scottish funnyman, he was in partnership with another Scots funnyman called Jack Milroy, and for years they were known as Francie and Josie. He will be saddly missed, he died last night. Tom frae Saltcoats Scotland |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: John MacKenzie Date: 28 Jan 04 - 12:50 PM So sad, part of a Scottish music hall tradition, albeit these wonderful places of entertainment went a long time ago. Nobody these days does anything like these old acts, and more's the pity. He will be missed. John |

Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: GUEST,The Stage Manager Date: 28 Jan 04 - 02:41 PM I am extremely fortunate to have spent a few weeks working with Rikki Fulton on a tour of 'Peter Pan' . He was, as tradition has it, doubling the roles of Mr Darling and Captain Hook. The tour started in England, and Rikki played both roles using a perfect English accent. When the tour arrived at The Kings in Glasgow, nothing appeared to have changed. Mr Darling was, as usual, the typical English Gentleman. However, there was a long pause and glint of pure mischief in his eyes when Rikki came on as Hook. The wave of recognition, relief and heartfelt warmth that hit the stage when Hook started to speak in a glorious Scottish accent was astonishing. As was the shock of the rest of the English cast. He hadn't warned them! A greatly loved and gifted performer, and a rare privilege to have been able to watch him work his magic on live audiences. SM |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: GUEST,Guest, B.T. Date: 28 Jan 04 - 03:54 PM Although he took on some airs and graces with fame, he was, and will remain, a man of the people. A good Dennistoun man. Condolences to Kate, whom I feel that I almost know, but don't: thanks to Rikki's book, the prophetic "Is It That Time Already"? And also to Tony Roper's recent "Jolly" books. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: Dave Hanson Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:11 AM Brilliant entertainer, one of Scotlands finest. He will be sadly missed. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: GUEST,ozmacca Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:17 AM Rikki Fulton gone? A great comic and a very talented man indeed. Another of the great names from the time when entertainment meant entertainment and not transatlantic look-alike sit-coms or bad language. When will we see their like again........ |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: Strupag Date: 29 Jan 04 - 04:20 PM He was unique and brilliant. My favourite character was Rev I M Jolly. Yes, as said before, Rikki was one of Scotland's finest. Andy |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: Tattie Bogle Date: 29 Jan 04 - 07:52 PM Or Robocop! Great programme last night on BBC Scotland in tribute to him, but it does make you wonder if they have a whole pile of "tribute programmes" pre-edited and ready to show for anyone past a certain age: sorry, I don't want to detract from this superb actor and comic's parting to the great stage in the sky. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: GUEST,weerover Date: 30 Jan 04 - 01:33 AM Yes, a fine entertainer; little known outside Scotland I should think, but made his mark in the wider world with a cameo role as a KGB officer in the film "Gorky Park" wr |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rikki Fulton From: Strupag Date: 30 Jan 04 - 12:45 PM TattieB, Rick was very ill for the last couple of years so I suppose it was prudent and still respectful for the Beeb to have the tribute show in the can. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As Jack Milroy might say. "Thanks fur the laughs china" |
