I'm trying to get hold of the Lyrics, plus the name of a song that i believe can be found on The Spinners albam titled, 'Folk at the Phil'.
I think it's around the 3rd track of the record. The Lyrics that I know make up the chorus, which is as follows.

"For the Leaves are getting greener and spring is on is on the way, And girls are getting prettyer and younger every day."

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of these Lyrics in full and Chords for this peace?
I would appreciate any info at all!
Many thanks, David

IN the digitrad, you just have to look

SILVER IN THE STUBBLE
(Sydney Carter)

(ACBG) Am G Am / Am G Am / Am G Am G Am G / Am G Am

Early in the Morning,
Hear the razor roar,
There's silver in the stubble
And it wasn't there before.

For the leaves are getting greener,
And spring is on the way;
Girls are getting prettier
And younger every day.

Silver in the stubble;
Winter in the wood.
Fare you well, you wicked world,
I'm going to be good.

Time to think of Heaven;
Time to think of Hell.
Time to go to church on Sunday,
Hark, I hear the bell.

But if any girl is willing,
She only has to say;
I'll hang my halo on a shelf
Until another day.

Hi D_Steveo, and welcome. The way the Digitrad(or DT) search works is: on the main Mudcat Forum page, up above the list of threads(conversation topics) you'll find a little box labelled "lyrics and knowledge search"(I think).
   You had a song that you knew some lyrics from, but didnt know title etc. If you had typed "younger every day" into the box(the phrase you remembered from the song) and then clicked on "search", you would have been offered the lyrics and other information on "Silver in the Stubble". This is the way to use it You can search just DT, which will just give you the song lyrics. Or you can search "forum" as well, which will lead you to discussions about the song..
   Of course, if you start a thread on the subject asking for the information, you get a chance to meet people as well!

It's the Digital Tradition database, which is kept here at the Mudcat. Unlike the Forum, it's a static database which is periodically updated; the Forum changes continually, of course. When looking for song lyrics and information, you need to search both. This is easily done through the online search engine, which you will see at the top of every page. Remember that song titles vary and that people often also get them wrong or mis-spell them, so it's generally best to search for a characteristic phrase which you remember.

When a song is already in the DT, it's usually best, when answering a request for it, to give a link to the existing file rather than copy-and-pasting the whole thing into the thread; this can lead to later confusion and time-wasting, not to mention duplicate entries in the DT. For those who don't know how to make them manually, links can easily be made using the "make a link" feature below the "reply" box on each thread page. The DT file for this song is at SILVER IN THE STUBBLE.

There is a great deal more information in the FAQ, which a lot of people never look at.
