Subject: MP3 Desired: Da slockit Licht From: harpgirl Date: 03 Feb 04 - 07:54 PM Does anyone have an MP3 I can listen to? I would like to learn this tune. Also, what old time and folk sites will give me free MP3s for download? |

Subject: RE: MP3 Desired: Da slockit Licht From: Geoff the Duck Date: 04 Feb 04 - 05:10 AM Everyone seems to play this particular tune in a very even tempo, usually trying to get it to sound very lyrical. When I first heard the tune, it was on an LP of Shetland Fiddling, and I think it was played by the bloke who wrote it (Tom Anderson). The delivery was Very stilted, akin to the style of a Strathspey (but without the very fast bits mixed in). I think it sounds much better played with a bit of style. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |

Subject: RE: MP3 Desired: Da slockit Licht From: Dave Hanson Date: 26 Jan 06 - 08:51 AM On the tape ' The Silver Bow ' Tom Anderson and Ally Bain play it like Geoff the Duck said, slowly but with the ' scotch snap ' strathspeylike. Of course it was written by Tom, very beautiful tune. eric |
