Einnor
I haven't searched in the database. It might be there. If not I think I have version of this on the latest BR549 CD. I'm at work now, but I'll re-visit this thread when I get home and see if you've got an answer. If not I'll try to post the lyrics.

Sorry...The BR549 song is a different one. However, you've got me curious now and since I'm a Guy Clark fan I'll have to go searching. Hope to find the song soon and will post it if I do.

I have put alot of effort myself into finding it. I WISH NOW THAT i had written it all out when it was on CMT. Now that one of lifes little tricks makes a song so desciptive Icould use it for my own. The refrain from memory goes I'm going to Texas on a slow train honey. And I don't think you understand. I've got a good Christian raisin and an eighth grade education. And I don't think you aught to be a treatin me this way

Well, Einnor, I hate to see you frustrated like this. Click here and see if the song you're looking for just might be Billy Joe Shaver's "Georgia on a Fast Train." I know it's the wrong state and the wrong speed for the train, but I searched Cowpie for "education" and came up with this line:
Got a good Christian raisin' and an eighth grade education
So, is that the song?
Click here for a RealAudio clip of Billy Joe Shaver's recording of the song.

Einnor, I think Joe might be right. I haven't had any luck finding the Guy Clark tune. I did go back and check that BR5-49 CD and the song, "Georgia On A Fast Train " by Billy Joe Shaver is on it. The words sure sound right. Let us know if this is the song you've been looking for.

I was going entirely by memory to reconstruct the tune. I guess I'll play the dickens out of what I have. Maybe put some changes for my own aplication. Thanks alot.

Gene, Thanks! I'm with a group doing a show and we're singing Roy Rogers' and Dale Evans' "Happy Trails to You" as the closing song The site you sent me to has the full version which none of us could recall. Again thank you.

Craig

I am very happy as well that a simple search for one persons missing link can lead to helping others. I did get a good laugh that I had the wrong speed and the wrong state. I still got to the correct destination.
