A GREAT SONGWRITER IS ARRIVING at BRELS in ASHTON LANE in the west end of glasgow.

I did a gig in Dublin last month and after the performance palava we had a lovely wee session... This young man played a few trad songs on the guitar and a Magnificent!! version of Arthur mac bride.... john mc Cusker was playing fiddle and Christine was playing cello...three others playing guitar, all of us, (about 12 of us), squashed into this little booth seat meant for 6.

This stranger who was thrilling us started to play a beautiful song which started
'Gallileo fell in love... like a gallilean boy...'

my chin was hitting the floor with the soul of this young mans voice..

I have since found out that Paul Brady himself has heard this guy and rates him as the best singer songwriter he has heard in ages.

HIS NAME IS DECLAN O ROURKE he will be at Brels because I asked the owner to put him on... please come check him out before you have to pay mega bucks to not see him at the back of some enormous venue.

ps his web site is declanorourke.com and if you can, download CHRISTMAS WINE. He told me he manages to record by 'stealing' downtime in the studio after paddy casey who he works for has finished recording...
he is a startling guitar player and he has never played glasgow before.. i cant wait
see you there

yes you will need a ticket but pop into brels now and get that organised because i am gonna be dragging as many folk down as i can... so the space might go by the end of this weekend... i think they're a fiver
the guy that runs the venue , robin morton , is a BIG music fan and has been putting interesting stuff on in the upstairs part of brels for a while now... thinking of starting my own wee singers club there... we'll see... last night i saw one half of ARAB STRAP play his songs on acoustic guitar there...
playing support to declan will be a glasgow lass called JO MANGO who i've heard is good.
x
