From: Beardy Date: 23 Feb 04 - 05:33 AM Around Cheltenham, Glos for the National Hunt Festival; avoiding the bloody awful pubs full of Irish punters singing a maximum of 5 different songs before repeating them. Subject: RE: Where will you be on March 17th? From: Kaleea Date: 04 Mar 04 - 04:38 AM I'll be playin' for the wee ones at the local elementary school in the AM, go to Mass with my pals & their families (I was raised Protestant, but who's counting? & the Father knows me & enjoys my Music.), playin' for the Irish dancers from the Irish dancing school at a local spot in the afternoon, squeeze in a nursing home set, & in the evening singin' & playin' Whistle/Bodhran/Guitar/whatever with the Ceoli band at some society event--the only $$ gig of the day. Yep, I'll have to sing the usual Danny Boy-singin' both verses gets a better tip cause the old fellers cry, as does Mother Macree-- & the other Irish American songs, It is the midwest, after all. & lots of jigs, reels, hornpipes etc. Can't play in the bars anymore, Dr. says stay away from all cigarette smoke. Not too conducive to making much $$ in gigs. But it's healthier. |
