Subject: Best glue for plastic binding repairs? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 19 Feb 04 - 03:06 PM The multi-ply binding on one of my guitars is delaminating at the waist bend of the guitar. Instead of being b-w-b-w-b it's b-w-b-air-w-b. It's not a serious problem and the repair should just be a matter of brushing a little glue into the crack and securing with masking tape until it dries. I just don't know what particlular plastic such binding material is usually made of, so I don't know what glue would be best to use. I'm mainly concerned that an incompatible glue might melt the binding instead of gluing it. Anybody have any specific suggestions? Bruce |

Subject: RE: Best glue for plastic binding repairs? From: Murray MacLeod Date: 19 Feb 04 - 03:57 PM You don't need to do any extensive research. The glue you need is "Duco" , which does indeed melt the cellulose (which is what your binding is made of) but that is a necessary part of the gluing process. |
