Last night was the second occasion of a new folk attraction in Sheffield. Star of the evening was John Kirkpatrick who was as absolutely blindingly good as ever. His playing of "Blaze Away" reminded me what I wanted as my funeral music. I believe the first time I saw John appear was at a very early Cleethorpes, when he was playing for a folk dance group called Folkweave - who were dressed in sort of sackcloth outfit as I remember (or is it my memory going?). Anyway he has got so much better over the years. And Brass Monkey tour in May.

Shonaleigh gave a fine example of story-telling for adults, in fact adult-orientated would be an excellent description!! I do find it amazing how a storyteller can hold an audience like that, she is incredible. Everyone knows of John's talents, those of you with a chance to see Shonaleigh should try and catch her too. www.shonaleigh.co.uk

Local support acts made for a great evening, nice food as well.

Next one in a month's time March 17th I believe is Tim Van Eyken.
