I run a folksong library, so I'm not used to needing this kind of information. I am working on a project to help K-12 teachers use folk songs to teach American history. I need to find available recordings of a list of songs. I have most of these in my library (New Song Library), but they are on LPs; not much help to the teachers. I'm hoping there are places on the web where I can do a search on a song title and find available recordings. I know this isn't the usual use of Mudcat, but I thought you web-savvy people might know.

I know that jimmy driftwood wrote a song to be used as a history lesson.
In 1812, the British Kept a-Comin', because he thought students would remember it better if it was sung. I hope i remembered the date right!

Do you have a list of particular songs you are seeking?
Or are you looking for suggestions to compose such a list?
Or are you looking for a list already compiled?

Mike, isn't it "In eighteen-fourteen I took a little trip, along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip..."?
