If someone with an all-you-can-dial phone wants to give Terry Moore a call that would be good. |

Subject: Lyr Add: GET ON BOARD, LIL' CHILDREN From: GUEST,JTT Date: 24 Feb 04 - 04:25 AM Whoops, found it myself. Shirley Temple in Dimples. http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/8038/1onboard.htm GET ON BOARD, LIL' CHILDREN (Traditional, from the Shirley Temple movie Dimples 1936) The gospel train is a comin' I hear it yes at hand I hear the car was movin' And a rumblin' through the land Oh get on board, get on board, get on board There's room for many a more I hear the bell and twinkle A coming around the curve She's playing all her steaming power And straining every nerve Oh get on board, get on board, get on board There's room for many a more The fare is cheap and all can go The rich and poor are there No second class on board this train No difference in the fare Oh get on board, get on board, get on board There's room for many a more She's there and now the station Or better don't be late But come and get your ticket And be ready for this train Oh get on board, get on board, get on board There's room for many a more Oh get on board, get on board, get on board Little children There's room for many a more Lyrics copy-pasted from the link cited above. |
Subject: Lyr Req: Hear that train a-comin' From: GUEST,JTT Date: 24 Feb 04 - 04:08 AM There's a song used to introduce a radio programme here in Ireland. Unfortunately I keep hearing it and dashing out to the kitchen too late to discover what it is. But I *think* I heard the presenter say "that was Shirley Temple" last time it was on. It's definitely an American child, with a froggy little voice. It starts: "I hear that train a-comin'", and the last line of the verse is "there's room for many a more". Anyone know what it is? Sorry I can't be more specific. |
