Stilly River Sage ... nice photos Maggie. If you'll go to member photos and look at "Stilly River Sage," you'll see that she has posted some very nice photos of: the ferry ride honoring her late Father John Dwyer, the Saturday night concert at Rainy Camp, a wonderful shot of Paddy Graber, and other shots. By the way, that has got to be one of the nicest pictures I've ever seen of John Dwyer. Thanks for your efforts, Bob (here's a hug to say thanks).

Thanks, Bob! I sent those to Pene Azul this afternoon, and hadn't been back online since. Quick work, Jeff! The photos are here.

I will put a link to the additional photos over on the John Dwyer thread. That really is a nice photo of Dad. Jean Smith had emailed me a file of this last year when it first came to light, but I didn't think about sending it along back then. Paddy gave me this print, that he'd gotten from David.

I have David's address, and will write to ask him about reprints, if anyone is interested.

Bob, you'll be interested to know that Caroline (my 151/2 year old daughter, Dad's first grandchild) rifled my closet and asked to wear a shirt today that had this poem on the front:

There once was a man named John D.
Who claimed that all children should be
---Confined to a zoo
---Till age forty-two
'Except for
my grandchild,' said he.

This was given to him at a grandfather shower--he shipped toys and baby clothes down to us shortly thereafter. A belated thanks, everyone! (And for the silk-screen, Jean!)

Maggie

Last week I found a tape of his that was a coffee house performance with Don Firth from back in 1980. There were some great songs on it from both of them. (I think Don's voice, which has always been marvelous, has improved with age). It was typical Dad, discussing the etymology of the songs before he sang them.

I think that PSGW photo was in 1989, Maggie, unless he went twice. I was in John Knowles' music theory with your dad that year, so it's possible I was lurking just off the edge of the photo. I'd love to hear that tape of John and Don!

Aloha,
Mark

P.S. That was the class in which John Knowles gave the most beautiful definition of music I've ever heard: "Music is decorating time with sound."

Mark, I was going by what the photographer wrote on the photo, and it looks like he was taking a guess, so you are probably right. My other avenue of research: I have t-shirts Dad bought for all of the different folk and guitar and song events he attended over the years, so I could go through the closet and work out the range of years and go from there! (Many of the shirts are in my son's dresser--he loves the wear them as sleep shirts. He particularly likes a big red one with Queen Victoria that says "We are not a muse.")

I want to make the tapes available to folks who are interested. I don't know what all I have right now. I'm slowly moving toward the day when I can organize them, especially with the couple of boxes of tapes labeled "masters." He had one box of cassettes set aside, and apparently he was planning to tape over them, but this is now as much a treasure as the rest of it. Meanwhile, I can do a simple copy onto another cassette if you want me to mail you a copy of this. I eventually will be putting things on CD.

Maggie

Bob,

I'm going to ask Joe or Jeff to move this discussion over the John Dwyer Songs and Stories thread--I think it will be easier for people to find this discussion and resources if it has his name in the title. But thanks for setting it up!

Maggie
