Subject: Lyr Req: Query
From: nobody6177

Greeting, gentle folk. I am on a quest. I am seeking the lyrics (and hopefully sheet music) for "Men of Harlock" and "The World Turn'd Upside Down", the latter as played at the Surrender of Yorktowne. A recording would be ideal, but I will take what is available. Please reply via e-mail: nobody6177@yahoo.com I thank you.

Why not use the Mudcat references as well?

look at the black book of locksley (though the atual original book was shut down by the proprietor to avoid having problems with copyrights as he could not get every person responsible for every song he had captured in every variant he still posts the songs he was responsible for and many traditional songs like men of harlock. just enter "black book of locksley" into google and you will see a site for joseph of locksley's website.

My understanding is that the idea that the British played "The World Turned Upside Down" at the surrender was first asserted about sixty years later by an American who had not been present.

It does seem a bit unlikely that the British would MAKE FUN OF THEMSELVES by playing the tune with that name at such a moment.

Makes a great story, though.

Whether it's true or not, it doesn't seem the least unlikely to me, lighter.
