Subject: Chord Req: John Renbourn's Wexford Carol arrangemen
From: GUEST,Steve Beste

Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for John Renbourn's arrangement of the Wexford Carol on his Traveller's Prayer album? He sings it with The Voice Squad and Maighréad Ní Dhomhnaill.

Listen here: http://music.walmart.com/m/000/16/35/17/81/82/0001635178182.01.01.003.mp3

Words here: thread.cfm?threadid=11332#83617

I want to sing it with my daughter and her best friend, but it's all about the harmonies and I can't pick them out. Has anybody worked it out? Or know where I can buy it? I've been all over the web without success. All of Renbourn's sheet music seems to be for guitar (which makes sense).

Many thanks,
Steve

Hello Steve!

First of all I must admit that I don't know the song. However I have a suggestion how the mp3-sample you provided might possibly be harmonized:

E
And sport with otters

Bm
all in the stream And

E
you shall chase the

A
dapple

B (major this time!)
deer And swim with

E
salmon in the

A
waters

E
clear.

If you should have any further questions, want me to transcribe the whole song for you or simply talk to me please feel free to contact me via email:
mudcat.org@gigajazz.de

Please don't answer here as I don't visit this online forum frequently.

Nice greetings from Germany!
Alex

If you get the chords or anything else you can reasonably post here, I hope you do. It's a lovely song and one of the select few I carry with me when I travel.

Thanks, all.

Actually, Alex, I'm after more than the chords. I want the whole harmony parts since we would be singing this a capella. I will take your chords as a starting point, though, and just try to work it out at the piano.

Steve
