Lincolnshire Folk is an organisation which aims to bring together all kinds of performers to share their music, stories, songs and dance. They organise two events a year and the Spring Event for 2004 is on Sunday March 7th at The Golden Lion in Bourne starting at 2pm.
If anyone would like to join us, pm me for more details or to "book your spot".
The Autumn Event is at Tattershall Castle on Sunday September 19th and will be Licolnshire Folk's tenth anniversary.

Now, I know that Bourne is not the centre of the universe but neither is it the end of Middle Earth! Anyone fancy joining us?

Have you got any details of likely artists yet?

Are the events family orientated, or is it what I would term a normal folk club event.

One of the problems is that if you take the kids and they don't behave because they are bored, you have wasted your time.

I like the summer small festival events where the kids acn be outside, looking at the various crafts and stalls, which helps to keep them interested.

Ones such as the annual one down in Kingsbridge, Devon and what used to be a folk festival, but is more of a mixed music event now at South Hill Park in Bracknell. If anybody has been there you will know what I mean.

Cheers
Les

The autumn event at Tattershall is great - we sing in the bottom floor of the keep but there is plenty more to see in the upper floors and a great view from the top. There is more dancing there as well. The spring event is more like a folk club and I expect to see a lot of singers from the south of the county. You never know, though, until you get there!

Rhiannon and I could come down from Rhodesia. Is it a place we could bring a small dog (YT) or should we leave him at home.

Where is Rhodesia Mick. Excuse my ignorance. I mean I have heard of Rhodesia abroad, but not in the UK. Does your Yorkshire Terrier sing and play guitar Mick? If it did, that would pull the crowds in LOL.

Rhodesia is on the Western edge of Worksop on the Chesterfield Canal. The YT could sing and play guitar but he's very sensitive and doesn't want to make me look bad in public by outplaying me!

Well there you go. I can see rhodesia on the map. Not so far away from Bourne, then.
Does your dog want to come and sing at my club in Market Rasen when it gets started?

He'd love to - keep us informed of progress (You can email him either through me on MCPearce0ATaolDOTcom, with suitable substitutions - and that's a zero at the end of my name, or PM Zany Mouse (Rhiannon)). Be warned though that his contract usually includes a rider requiring several smelly items to be available for his personal use.

I'm staying in Lincoln on the nights of 8th & 9th March (Monday & Tuesday).

Is there any action on those evenings....should I bring my voice & melodeon?

John

Just looked at the website for Tatteshall Castle. That looks good to take the kids to. Hang them from the turrets and all that. :-).
I will put that one in my diary.
Not too far away for me.

John J - nothing in Lincoln itself those nights. Check out FOLKTALK to see what's on in the locality - http://www.folktalk.co.uk

(Sorry, haven't worked out how to do a blue clicky yet - Sooz will no doubt enlighten me tonight!)

Only Louth Folk Club on the 9th March by the looks of it.
Mick - the Golden Lion is a pub so I think the YT would be welcome. Can't be certain though. You and Rhiannon certainly would!

Here is a website that might be of help for the autumn event at Tattershall.

Its a camp site, don't know if the prices are OK. Don't have a caravan or tent.

Villan, we don't really know who will be performing until the day. There will certainly not be any "big stars"! However, I'm looking forward to hearing the wonderful Brian Dawson (encyclopoedia of Lincolnshire songs) and talented young melodeon player David Grey.

Are you playing (Stitherum)?
Is Strollin' Johnny playing?
Don't forget Mick and his dog!
Do you really believe that his dog can sing and play guitar better than Mick himself. :-)

Sorry Villan, I'm escorting the Bro-In-Law and his wife to 'Eefrow to make sure they bugger off to Canada for the rest of their lives! Same reason I wouldn't have been able to come to Rasen if 7/2 had been the first night.

Strollin
I bet you miss em when they have gone.
I do hope you enjoy your trip down to Heathrow.
Make sure you hit the M25 at the right time and take your guitar incase you don't hit it at the right time. If you get stuck in a traffic jam, you will then be able to get out of the car and entertain everybody.
Used to do the M3/M25 route everyday to get to Watford. I hated it.
Which terminal do you have to get to?

4 is not so bad. You need to go to junction 14 of M25. then a straight run to the airport.

Hello, sorry I didn't quite make it. 14.05 I got to Bourn found The Golden Lion, good so far. Walked in to the pub asked about the music thing. Blank looks alround. No music thing. Walked back to the car looked at the map I was in The Golden Lion in Bourn in Cambridgeshire not The Golden Lion in Bourne in Lincs. I made a brave effort to drive to and through Cambridge but after an hour of driving round in circles, I surcomed to the 19th sign to Bedford and made my way home. Two villages called the same name with pubs called the same name as well. What are the chances of that eh? Luckly I love driving almost as much as I love singing. Please put me down for 19th Sept.Cheers See You soon

Sure did.

I think we are going to meet at the Market Rasen Folk Club shortly.
Have managed to find another location, but am checking it out before I commit.
One thing, it should have the quiteness that folk singers require.
His Worship and the Pig were very good. So if you haven't seen them before you missed something.

Quietness would be good, but us GFC types have become very experienced at surmounting a barrage of noise from the other patrons of our venue!
Looking forward to Rasen getting off the ground.
