Judy and I were talking tonight about the news of the day. I mentioned something that I thought might make an interesting BS thread. My premise is this: Wouldn't you like to have been a mouse in the corner when ..........!

My example is: I sure would have liked to have been the mouse in the corner when Martha Stewart walked into her home and slammed the door after her conviction.

What's your "mouse in the corner?" Bob(deckman)Nelson

I sure would have liked to have been the mouse in the corner when Bruce Lee found out the lead in Kung Fu went to David Caradine. (The producers found Lee to have too much of an accent.)

Neat thread idea.

I also would like to have been a mouse in the corner when Monica came home after finding out that her girlfriend Linda Tripp blew the story about what was really happening in the White House! Bob

Okay, this one takes a couple of assumptions...

Let's assume Hillary believed Bill in all of his denials of his philandering (no reason to doubt her, and she vehemently thought it was all created to besmirch him). So, what was it like the night he had to come clean and finally admit the truth to her about Monica....

But if I could have been a little mouse stowed away anywhere, I wish I could have been on board the first Apollo lunar landing, with my little NASA mouse suit complete with oxygen tank. Truly one of humankind's greatest achievements, and only two men can say they were there.

It's what every pilot dreams about.

(I second the nomination - cool thread idea)

Actually I would have liked to have been the rat in the bilge on the very first landing in the North Americas on whatever ship it was.

More historical moments than I can name. A time traveling mouse running from the Bastille to Gettysburg to Normandy, and way beyond.

Linda Tripp blew the story, but Monica blew . . . .

a) Cuba's chance at selling more cigars
b) a really good employment opportunity
c) invitations to an all-you-can-eat buffet
d) the opportunity to make big bucks advertising roofers' kneepads

One question please? Why a 'moune in the corner' rather than the traditional 'fly on the wall'. Some fameous journalist coined that. Can't remember who.

"mack" ... darned good question. Can't say that I'ver thought about it, but it's still a good question. Wouldn't it have been great to have been the 'fly on the wall' when that decision was made! Bob

get it together, guys. I mean ya can't reasonably expect to be a blue whale in the corner and not be recognized. Unless, of course, ya have sun glasses on.

Fly, mouse or whale, I'd like to have been snooping when Nixon played his tape and decided he better erase that 18 minutes. Of course Arlo Guthrie knows what he actually erased – "Alice's Restaurant."

Cheerily,

well, the Oval Office has no corners, but I'd love to have been a fly on the wall and listened in when Nixon was told John Dean was gonna talk!

Here is a short review of one of my all time favorite books. I loved the concept and wished it could have been used to create sequals.

Ben and Me

Reviewer: debra_hamel from North Haven, CT USA

Ben and Me is a biography of Benjamin Franklin, as told by his mouse Amos, a one-time church mouse who came to live with Franklin, specifically in the famous American's wig. The mouse's manuscript was found, edited, and published in 1939 by Robert Lawson, who also illustrated the text. This book was one of my favorites when I was growing up. I read it through countless times, and I spent a lot of time tracing over Lawson's wonderful illustrations. If you want history as it *really* happened, through the eyes of a rodent who was there and who can really write, this is the book for you.

I read all of those Robert Lawson novels and loved them. Capt. Kidd's Cat, Paul Revere's Horse, etc.

I'd have liked to have been the mouse or the fly when Katherine Harris spoke with Jeb Bush and George Dubya about calling the election results.

I wouldn't mind being a mouse in the corner at your house, but only till Kissa's well enough to get down off your lap and eat me for lunch!
Seriously, I'd like to be the mouse that heard the conversation between George Sr and George Jr over when and how he would run for President...any scenarios, folks?

Well, closer to home, I'd like to be a mouse in the cornor here in my own basement during prohibition. Rumor has it that the 1920's renovations down there were part of a speakeasy, but there is no proof... Down through history, well, I'd like to be the mouse in the cornor of the time machine so I can just keep poking my nose into new events

I would have liked to have been a mouse in the corner, or a fly on the wall, or simply a uniformed lackey since people don't notice them either, when Bush got the news on September 11. Wouldn't you like to know what he really did!

Since that fourth jet on September 11, 2001 was no doubt headed toward the White House, and the occupants of the White House were told to evacuate NOW!, I think that query might fall beyond the parameters of the question. The mouse was getting his ass out of there fast. Fortunately, the folks on that plane foiled that plan, but at the cost of their own lives.
