Lamenting via email to Big Mick that for the first time in 20 years I'm not playing folk / trad music for St. Patrick's Day. The only shining spot is that I'll be playing in the parade with the pipe band on Sunday and able to catch some music at the Gaelic League and have a beer or three with my mates after.

He tells me its HIS BAND that will be playin'! Imagine - I get to drive across the State, sweat in a parade - then listen to Mick's band! What a country!

Anyway - that's two of us. Who else may be there? (Clinton - plug yer ears if we get drafted into playing.)

I'm playing with a group called Inis Ceol (I'm an occasional add-on) at the Gaelic League on Sunday from 4p to 7p.

PeteBoom, I missed you. Did you come into the hall? I talked to BigMick for a bit. They were having a rough time of it out in the tent-- high winds and intermittant power failures.

Yeah, it got rough at the end. But it went swimmingly up until the last 30 minutes. These Detroit folks love a party!! The wind was blowing fierce, and the lights kept going out. But the sound system stayed on, so we just kept singing and playing. What a hoot.

I wish we would have had time to play a bit together, Maryanne.

Maryanne - I never made it in the hall =( I ended up being too busy minding drums from intoxicated people thinking they were Irish. (Much worse this year than last... not sure why.) The rest of the time I was trying to figure out how long we'd have to wait before playing.

Never saw Mick again after we played in the tent (nothing like a phalanx of cops in full dress uniform to clear room to perform!) But - yer absolutely right Mick - man they love a party!

Ah well....
