Subject: Si Kahn at Ark in Ann Arbor MI From: maire-aine Date: 12 Mar 04 - 02:55 PM This is from the Ark website. Get your tickets soon. I'm sure it will be a sell-out. Thursday, April 15, 2004 Si Kahn A benefit for Religious Action for Affordable Housing's Capital Fund Si Kahn is an artist who is fighting the good fight, a much-needed heir to the tradition of Phil Ochs. A community organizer and civil rights activist since his days with the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee in the 1960s, Kahn didn't start performing until 1979, when he was 35. He has recorded with Pete Seeger and Jane Sapp, and he's lectured and performed around the world for more grassroots community groups than you can count. Si Kahn has an approachable quality that just about anyone of any age will respond to and enjoy. On his latest album, "Been a Long Time", Kahn continues to create hard-hitting songs for hard-hit people and to address this country's widening social divides. Religious Action for Affordable Housing is a coalition congregations that raises funds for the purpose of building affordable housing for low-income families. They mark their fifth anniversary with this benefit concert. Tickets are $20.00. Show begins at 8 pm, doors open at 7:30 pm. |
