Subject: Where's Troll? From: harpgirl Date: 15 Mar 04 - 03:41 PM Troll hasn't posted since Sept o3. What has happened to him? I didn't see him at Willfest either. t |

Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: harpgirl Date: 15 Mar 04 - 03:43 PM Oh wait...maybe he is Martin Gibson...Is it possible? |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Amos Date: 15 Mar 04 - 03:51 PM No, no...say it ain't so!! Sure MG is _A_ troll, but not Troll!! A |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Ed. Date: 15 Mar 04 - 04:00 PM Maybe s/he just got bored of mudcat? It isn't unknown... I wouldn't worry, anyway |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: GUEST,Martin Gibson Date: 15 Mar 04 - 04:42 PM Nope, Troll is not me. Troll must have been before my time here. Maybe Troll was some regular poster's alter ego. Maybe I am, also. |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Amos Date: 15 Mar 04 - 05:04 PM The problem is, Martin, that you're the sort of alter-ego who isn't aware that they are an alter-ego -- and have no cognizance of whom they are one!! :>)) LOL! Thanks for a grin. A |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: GUEST,Martin Gibson Date: 15 Mar 04 - 05:30 PM Ah, Amos Awareness is my specialty! |

Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 15 Mar 04 - 07:16 PM You could find out if all is cool with John/Troll by contacting his son Martin. Here's Martin's website. There's an email link on the page. Just send him something like "Haven't heard from your dad in a while. Is he dead or just pissed off." Bruce |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Amos Date: 15 Mar 04 - 08:41 PM I bet all the alter-egos say that, Martin!! :>) A |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: GUEST Date: 16 Mar 04 - 08:38 AM it's "troll" though, isn't it?, not "Troll"? |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Joe Offer Date: 16 Mar 04 - 11:24 AM You never know about Troll. Last time he disappeared, he ended up singing sea chanteys at Disneyland Japan for 6 months. That has to be the most exotic job any Mudcatter has had. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Willie-O Date: 16 Mar 04 - 11:31 AM oh I don't know Joe. I think we can do better than any Disney gig for exotic. After all a lot of us are weirdoes, and many have even weirder friends. I played fiddle for a firewalk wedding. That's my submission in the "one-off gig" category. W-O |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: GUEST Date: 16 Mar 04 - 12:12 PM Martin's gig would have been at Tokyo DisneySea, the new theme park adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland. And as I said in a long-ago thread about folky music at theme parks, it is the world's greatest gig. Try to imagine getting paid to PRACTICE....every day...all day...in a fabulously interesting place like Japan....for people who think you're great even when you flub a few notes. From his website, it looks like Martin plays anything and everything, and probably quite well-a direct result of constant practice/performance. I envy him mightily- I'm about 20 years too late for this type of thing, but oooooh, would I have loved to....Fiddling at a firewalk wedding is certainly more exotic, but not a better gig! |

Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Steve-o Date: 16 Mar 04 - 12:26 PM That last post, which I should own up to, was me. Somehow lost my cookie...pardon the expression. |

Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 31 May 04 - 10:21 PM Saw Troll at the Florida Folk Festival. He is alive and well. I didn't ask why he's not into Mudcatting anymore and he didn't volunteer a reason. |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Little Hawk Date: 01 Jun 04 - 01:55 AM I have a theory that he got disgusted with Mudcat because there wasn't enough stuff being posted about William Shatner...and what was being posted was a bit disrespectful. |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Little Hawk Date: 01 Jun 04 - 07:28 PM And that's why he left! Case closed. |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Once Famous Date: 02 Jun 04 - 10:00 AM Actually I saw Troll under the Michigan Avenue bridge in downtown Chicago by the Billy Goat Tavern. He was hollaring, "chee'borger! chee'borger! Pesi, no, coke. chips, no fries." The 4 legged creatures above were tap, tap, tapping across. |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Amos Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:37 AM LIttle Hawk: That is a slander on troll. You should take it back. A |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Don Firth Date: 02 Jun 04 - 01:36 PM Billie Goats Gruff and VW beetles beware! THE troll lives in the Fremont district in Seattle. He probably came over with the influx of Scandinavians to this area in the late 1800s. He lurks under the north end of the Aurora Avenue bridge. And he's a BIG sucka!! Accept no substitutes! Don Firth |
Subject: RE: Where's Troll? From: Amos Date: 02 Jun 04 - 02:00 PM Don: You know perfectly well that Troll is not the one who has been posting here all these years!! At least I don't think he lives under a bridge ... he's never mentioned it. A |
