Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Barbara Date: 15 Mar 04 - 05:39 PM Allow me to be the first of many to point out that SIN is around everywhere, and easy enough to find, if you believe in that sort of thing. However, I think you wanted SINGing, not SINning, so good luck. Where are you located, or were you just looking for something to talk about? Blessings, Barbara |

Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Mr Happy Date: 17 Mar 04 - 09:01 PM But seriously folks.......... I'm desperately seeking w/end folkin' about events that cost next to nuthin'- don't begrudge payin' reasonable amount for capin', etc. Number of issues involved here: I enjoy singarounds & music sessions & want to indulge meself & chums in these during forthcoming sping/summer/autumn season, but because am not into attending 'Guest' events, resent paying out extortionate amounts for w/end 'official' folk festivals, where I/we have no intention of attending concert venues, but merely wish to join kindred spirits in sings & tunes. Anybody have info on 'unofficial' / fringe events as described above? Thanks in advance, Mr H |
Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Snuffy Date: 18 Mar 04 - 09:15 AM I suppose you're going to Bishop's Castle again, Mr H? |
Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Carol Date: 18 Mar 04 - 11:09 AM I'm always looking for these sinarounds, no seriously I feel exactly the same about festivals and very few will allow you to camp without buying a Season Ticket - it's worse for me as the driver/caravan tower isn't so fussed about going to festivals now and would go mad if we bought him a ticket he wouldn't be using. I'm looking for camp sites - with fishing but near enough for me to get to the singarounds. I think Beverley have a fringe festival and that some camping space for fringe 'people' - cheap but not free. Yes Barnsley is good - Buntingford Winter Sing in November - Murph's do - search on the Norwell Happening it's 28th May weekend. It looks like Cleckheaton caters for some camping only tickets. If you do find any more in the North/Midlands please let me know. Good Luck Carol |

Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Mr Happy Date: 06 Jul 04 - 06:18 AM Just had a splendid w/end of sining & seshning at Glasson FF on North Lancs coast. Only attended frige events & campsite with basic facilities [tap&toilet] was only £5. Brill! Need more of these kind of do's. |
Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Mr Happy Date: 02 Aug 04 - 05:18 PM just returned from superb w/end's folking about+ camping at only £1.50 per night at 3 Stags Heads Inn,Wardlow Mires, Derbyshire. This event is on every Sat nite but seems pretty well pot luck who turns up. We went down as group of 3 & another of our chums arrived as well plus another couple from Saddleworth, so the Sat afternoon outdoor sesh was brill, then the evening in the pub sesh with 4 very strong real ales including the most appropriately titled 'Lurcher'- a black rich & fruity beer at 8%!! + several local singers & musicians. Camped in farmers field next door to pub- basic facilities toilet, washbasin, water tap- but all very clean. After packing up on Sun morning, we were tempted back for more 'Lurchers' & songs in the pub in the afternoon. A most pleasant experience & we'll certainly go again sometime soon. |

Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: Mr Happy Date: 09 Nov 04 - 07:35 PM Thanks to contributors above. Our most recent w/end jaunt was to Audlem Bagpipe& Hurdygurdy Day[Sat 6 Nov] but we couldn't camp cos there was a bonfire & firework display on the field & tents prob would/ve melted! We're currently researching the Cotton Arms at Wrenbury [near Nantwich] which has a 365 basic campsite - water+ toilets, to see if they'll accommodate musicians/siners etc. We've also been the 3 Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires, Derbyshire recently - another 365 water+bog+washbasin[cold water]which has a freeforall sesh every Sat nite & will also accommodate any other nights as well. Realistically we're seeking w/ends away within striking distance of Chester-i.e. up to 100miles radius away. Anyone got seshes/sinarounds Fri,SAt etc? |
Subject: RE: Sinaround+MusicSessh.Free Camping W/End? From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 09 Nov 04 - 08:59 PM If you want to have a really good time you must attend folkmob's camping weekend at Knockholt many mudcatter's attend the twice yearly camp - no entry fee just £4 a night per tent/caravan for the farmer. So if you share lodgings it works out fairly cheap. |
