This recitation was recorded in the USA by Hank Williams Sr, and Red Sovine, and in Ireland by John Kerr, and Larry Cunningham. The only version still available is by Larry Cunningham on a cassette called "Larry Cunningham and the Original Mighty Avons Reunion Tape" Ritz Records Catalogue #417. Ritz Records, 5/6 Lombard Street, Dublin 2, Ireland phone [phone].

She read me the Bible as she used to do.

She never closed her eyes to sleep till we were all in bed,
And on party nights till we came home she always sat and read.
We had little thought about it then for we were young and gay,
Just how much Mama worried when we children were away.

And sometimes when we'd stay away till one, or two, of three,

That told that she waited just to know we made it home all right.
She smiled that old familiar smile and prayed to God to keep
Her children safe from harm throughout the years, and then she went asleep.

Hi, This song is featured in a Red Sovine CD called "Red Sovine sings Hank Williams (Luke the Drifter)" It is/was available as HTVD-9001-B Highland Music Inc. copyright on it is 1990 and it's listed as "I Dreamed About Mama Last Night" I can't tell you if it is still available, but hope that helps. I may be mistacken about who it was sang the song I am thinking of. In fact my memory of this somg is quite vage. The song I'm thinking of could be more simmaler to Hill Billy Heaven" since it has the singer dreaming of a visit to heaven. As to were to find it I can't be much help. I may avenchally find a recording of it beired in my collection and if I find the time to transcribe the words and post them I will.
