I offer no solution to the pain
That absence brings- I just offer support
When weight of sorrow topples soul, to stain
Dreams with depression. Heart makes the effort,
But, arms cannot reach: I remain here,
And share only my words. I can but seek
To share my feelings, but cannot touch tear.
Yet, at this time should I let my heart speak?
You may not feel my hugs, but my arms hold
Concern and caring. The words I now send
Must serve to solace share. I may be old,
But I have not forgotten loss, nor end.
How can I hold you in my arms, and dry
Your tears? How can heart not hold you, or try?

Not very different at all, I would think. This is becoming quite a lovely thread, I have noticed. I have absolutely no expectations of being the last one in it, either.

Can I form verse out of unspoken thought,
Without knowledge or hope? Can I recall
That which has not been? I have sonnets sought,
But found no vision. What would you dearth call,
That I have not had dreams? Am I to blame
For absence of muse? I try to find lines,
But I see only shadows: Shall I claim
More than I dream? What shall I use for signs?
Yet, I still think about you, and I care,
Though have few words to send, to show concern.
Shall I repeat my words, and hope to say
Some deeper meaning? Can my few hopes bear

I look for words that feed my dreams, that play
Within my heart: I seek lines that display
Part of desires. Can I hope to heart hold,
Or even to some aspect of dreams mold?
Without my dreams, my words are less than clay.

I feed my sonnets with desire; I sow
The seeds of verse within my dreams. For light,
I look to hope: For rain, I seize my tears
Of sorrow, or of joy. Yet, will lines grow?
I harvest from dreams images, at night,
To place on page, and hold throughout the years.

A quiet evening, with an autumn chill,
Frost upon leaves, and whispers in the pines.
Bright stars, that cloudless sky with beauty fill
And thought of life, that echo in these lines.
A winter rose, with frost upon the leaves,
But warmth in center, reaching to low sun
In western sky. Heart for summer now grieves
To see all nature slow. Yet, tears are done.
Winter approaches, and brings calm and thought,
Meditation on the cycle, and chance
To rest before start of springtime's riot.
Heart warms, at once and future lover's glance.
Time turns, and all is born, and then all dies,
Then born again, as hope climbs in spring skies.
