Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: beardedbruce Date: 28 Dec 04 - 08:56 PM not one to my muse.... Sonnet 21/10/92 CDXXXIII I now have been upon the edge, and seen The end of my existence. Shall I mourn All that I have not started? Shall I glean Some wisdom from this life, or shall I scorn To offer up the seeds of my life's crop? I shall not weep: I may have had my share Of dreams, but yet I know that Death will stop All my concerns. No one will know I care. I feel my own mortality, and fear The emptiness I cannot see into, The loss of memories that I hold dear, Far more than pain: I am to my mind true. To each, an end must come, and I shall rest Resigned to my fate, unknown and unblessed. |
Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: beardedbruce Date: 28 Dec 04 - 11:16 PM sonnet 94 of 210 to my muse... Sonnet 24/08/03 DCCCXLII I offer rose to muse, that blossom learn What beauty is. In muse's eyes I see A part of heaven's light: How can I earn My heart's desire, that her desires might be? I offer shoulder to my muse, for tears, And to lend to her what support I may. I would don armor, and fight off her fears, But should I try to more than at knight play? I offer heart, and soul, and dreams, to show How much her smile means. It is my choice, To care. In her I find the chance to know My dreams: How can I not to hopes give voice? How can I less than all my being give? She is my muse, giving me hope to live. |
Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: 42 Date: 29 Dec 04 - 02:11 AM BB...can the muse ever be male? j |
Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: beardedbruce Date: 29 Dec 04 - 02:31 AM The muse can be male, female, animal, spiritual, or a geological feature- WHATEVER gives one inspiration. As I have discussed with LH, I find that I hear my muse in that "small, quiet place inside", were others go to meditate. Sometimes one can know who the muse is- but not always. Take a look at "Lives of the Muses" - it is a good treatment of a number of artists and their ( human) muses. |

Sonnet 25/08/03 DCCCXLIII Might poet capture muse, with web of dreams To hold in arms all his desire? He weaves, Each waking moment: All his nighttime teems With thought of muse, but for her kiss he grieves. He wishes he might change the world, to let All sorrows fade. He wants muse to enjoy The heaven that she brings to dreams. Hopes set No limits on desires, nor dreams destroy. How can he face future without his muse? He must attempt to bring laughter to eyes: Her tears wash away dreams. Can he refuse Even faint chance, to any hope realize? She is his muse: He seeks only her smile. But he will dreams enjoy, at least a while. |

I want to protect her from all that harms, And give her back the love that in eye gleams. She offers more to heart than just the charms I see in image: In her words she sends The thoughts within my heart. This vision lends Hope to desire, to silence life's alarms. Can I give muse enough, when her smile bends My soul towards the light? She is the spring That feeds pool of my emotions, to bring Desires to page: For her, broken heart mends. All that I need is smile, to bring me peace: I do not think dreams of my muse will cease. |

Sonnet 28/08/03 DCCCXLV Good night, dear muse: I pray your dreams provide Reason to smile, and rest from weary day. In sleep I seek to from my worries hide, And reach to one who might my fears allay. I envy others, that to muse are near: Do they realize the value of your glance? Can they see, in your eyes, that ghost of tear That haunts me, and gives my regrets a chance? I wish I might hold you, that fears would flee From dream, and restless mind. I need the touch Of skin and lips and hair, to make heart see How real desire can be: Is that so much? I cannot find the hope I seek in sleep: Yet I would dream of you forever keep. |

Sonnet 04/01/05 CMLXVIII In every thread someone has to be last, Though we may trade places in patterned dance. Each one may lead, then follow: Thoughts are cast On screen to with all others take their chance. Come join the waltz of thousand partners: Share Some moments with a varied crowd, or learn Of osprey nest, or Bob. Each of us care Enough that we to this mad dance return. Each of us add to tune, and join in chords That sweep across our posts: We fill the time With what investment each of us affords. It is just journey that gives cause to climb. As we give, so shall each some gift receive, And only for those gone shall we yet grieve. 8-{E |

Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: beardedbruce Date: 07 Jan 05 - 10:24 PM sonnet 98 of 212 to my muse... Sonnet 01/09/03 DCCCXLVI My muse is far too beautiful for words To tell how much I want her in my arms. Yet, words are all I have, to send: As birds, They fly, but cannot tell power of charms. She is reason to dream, and, with her look, She melts my heart, and seizes all of soul. How can I chain desire into a book And hope this pittance will earn me my goal? More than just muse, she is the one desired By heart, and mind, and soul. I ache, to dream, But cannot my dreams shun: She has inspired All of the future, and what visions seem. I see in her far more than I can say: How can I know this love, and distant stay? |
Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: beardedbruce Date: 08 Jan 05 - 06:49 PM sonnet 99 of 212... Sonnet 09/09/03 DCCCXLVII Rev B A bright September day, and my heart dwells Upon my muse: In dream I hold her near, But I am still alone. I dare not steer My hopes upon the path of which verse tells. This dryad nurtures love: Her eyes cast spells On heart and soul. I cannot dreams ignore, Yet dare not desires for passion explore: I could not risk all that from my dream wells. I find in thought of muse I win heart's ease, Though she excites me: I've found true desire, But know not how to show how much I care. I do not know if these words will muse please, For I am not yet brave. Will she now tire Of verses that but longings for her share? |

Subject: RE: BS: In every thread someone has to be last! From: beardedbruce Date: 09 Jan 05 - 09:53 PM sonnet 100 or 212 to my muse... Sonnet 10/09/03 DCCCXLVIII Shall I tell of a muse of such sweet charm That angels follow her, and hope to learn The finer points of heaven? My dreams harm Noone, save themselves, that they for her burn. Shall I write of desire, for one more dear To me than my own soul? My muse is one I cannot keep from wanting to be near: Yet I have not the right to hold her won. Shall I dream of her eyes and smile, and seek To find the words to let her know I care? One kiss would show more than the lines I speak, But should I hope thus to my passions share? She is my dryad: For her, desires grow To fill my heart. How can I her worth show? |

Sonnet 16/09/03 DCCCL I ask not for a promise, but your smile To lend some pleasure to a dreary night. Can I ask that you write of dreams, to light This lonely dark, if only for a while? I ask not for your soul, but that you share Some time to tell how you have been. I seek To learn what part of passions I might speak, And not risk loss of one for whom I care. I ask not for your kiss, though I desire That, and far more. What you give is for you To choose and offer. With but hopes in view, I cannot keep from dreaming of eyes' fire. I ask not that you change, but that you be My light; My muse, that I in dreams might see. |

Sonnet 24/09/03 DCCCLI How can I give my muse her due, to show What thought of her gives heart? Should I detail What I have not the means to send? I know She deserves far more than verse, without fail. How can I tell her what she means to me, Who sees her eyes as stars, and smile as light? My efforts do not match my dreams, to free Desires, that I might hope to hold her tight. How will I find a path to heart's desire, To fold dreams within arms? Might I with more Than words caress, and more than words admire? She is my muse: Thought of her is my core. All I might offer I have sent: I pray She knows how hard it is, to stay away. |

Sonnet 29/09/03 DCCCLII I hear in silence far more than I should, The echoes of my fears. Can dreams ignore That I am of muse reft? Word from her would Be sweet, and harvest of my hopes restore. I see in darkness little of the sky, With clouds and concern hiding view. I wait, For dawn and day, and hope that dreams can try To show my heart what vision might relate. I taste the longing of desires, but know Soft lips are beyond reach. The salt of tears Flavors my dreams: Yet, should I these dreams throw Aside, when in them some of hope appears? Should I allow sense to be my heart's guide, When I can't even my own mind decide? |
