Subject: RE: REQ: tune for The Dundee Cat? From: MMario Date: 02 Oct 98 - 01:59 PM nope...I *think* an alternative title is "old maid of Dundee" - old women, gets three wishes, uses first two to become rich, young&beautiful. For third wish has her cat turned into a handsome lover...ends with (something similiar to) tonight my dear, you will regret the day you sent me to the vet. absolutely no idea what tune is like...have only seen the lyrics. mmario |

Subject: Lyr Add: DUNDEE CAT (Watt Nicoll, Matt McGinn) From: MMario Date: 20 Apr 99 - 01:47 PM duh! Sorry -- I've gotten so used to 'Catters being so much more knowledgable than I am.... DUNDEE CAT
In an attic room in Dundee town
Now one night they sat by the fire quite glum
The old woman looked down at her empty purse
Now a lovely face and a figure divine
This lovely girl by the fire she sat
This handsome man at last drew near

Subject: RE: REQ: tune for The Dundee Cat? From: Alex Date: 21 Apr 99 - 01:07 AM This is a Matt McGinn song. I have it on a tape and also in a songbook. Your lyrics have been somewhat anglified from the original Glaswegian. I don't speak digital but if you want me to send you a copy of either, let me know where. The late lamented poor old Matt won't mind and I'm sure he'd be happy to know that his songs are still being sung. |
