Would anyone have a copy of Handbook of Irish Music by Dr. Richrad Henebry. I understand it was somewhat controversial when it was published in the realy 1900's. The same Dr. Henebry accompanied with Prof. John Strachan collected folk songs in the Manx Language in the Isle of Man early 1900's.. If any reader has any detail, it would be appreciated.

Printed by Cork Univ. Press, 1928, 325 pp. A rare one. Book dealers in Ireland may turn up one.

Com, I did a quick search at ABEBOOKS and found three of them. Follow the link, Insert the title and the author's last name and you are set.

All the best,

Mick

Second hand copies do come up, but they tend to cost unless you're lucky. A dealer in the States is currently offering a comb-bound photocopy at $99, which strikes me as a bit cheeky. This is the search routine for Bookfinder.com, which should take you direct to current results:

Henebrey: Handbook of Irish Music

The $US 99 photocopy showed up at Abebooks; originals, one in Dublin at $190, one in the States at $225. That's why I said a rare one.

Another one beginning to get expensive is Sam Henry, Songs of the People. I have one, but I am trying to locate one for a friend.

Get in touch with John Moulden for Sam Henry. He may still have some copies; I got mine from him, and the price was better than fair.

The website hasn't been updated for a long while, but I think the email address there still works.

You might try emailing Kenny's in Galway - they handle a lot of books of Irish interest and do second-hand booksearches. Their website is www.kennys.ie

I've just checked the N. Ireland public libraries catalogue which is now available online
N.Ireland libraries
They have four copies but the one mentioned above, in Omagh, is listed as missing. There's one in Derry City library. I don't know what the inter-library loan situation is like.

I'm not acquainted with this book. Is it reckoned to be important, interesting?
