I think John Tams sang it on the series. Martin Carthy does a version on his Landfall album. Shirley Collins also did a different one. Some of the verses are in Mother Goose.

It's quite an old song (see several previous discussions here). Are you just asking about modern recorded arrangements?

yes I am just asking about modern recorded arrangements. I have the John Tams version but there is all sorts of extra stuff added to it (horns Bass etc) unlike the version that was sung in the series itself, one voice one instrument, and that is why I am looking for other versions

See thread 6188: Over the Hills
and thread 12149: Over the Hills
Information in these about the one you mention and versions from the 18th century, etc. The usual title is "Over (O'er) the Hills and Far Away."

There is another song here called "Over the Hill," no relation.

If 'other arrangements' includes midi, here's my sequence... flute, two guitars, a little cello, and a key change I couldn't resist.

bet my arrangement is unique as apart from the recognised verses I also include an extended churus nicked from the Kingston trio.

'We'll sing another song then we've got to move along
Far away my sal
Please try to understand why I'm leaving you Suzanne
Like the wind, I'm bound for the hills'.

the idea was planted by one Tony Martin from Dudley in 1964 who played banjo and 'flsh' then guitar.

Maybe I'll start a thread on him, he trained as a french teacher.
