AMC-TV has been running Stooges episodes ad hysterium. We don't seem to have a thread for songs in the Stooges episodes!

Episode list below, probably not exhaustive, and no indication which ones are Shemp/Curly/Joe Besser episodes, but it's a start. Episode numbers are mine, just to facilitate discussion.

Is it a good thing or not, to be able to sing the B-A-Bay, B-E Bee, B-I-Bickie-Bye song from memory, at half tempo? :~)

~Susan

Susan,

I thought it was written somewhere that only men get the 3 stooges. What gives? (BG). Women get all the avacados though.

Do you believe everything that is "written somewhere", dwditty? Or are you saying that women aren't allowed to get the 3 Stooges?

Hardi is a strong influence. My Stooge threshold is much higher than when I was younger. :~)

What episode do they sing "Swinging the Alphabet?" ("Bee I Bikki Bi Bee U Boo etc")
"Violent is the Word for Curly," 1938

What episode do they perform the "Niagara Falls" routine?
Gents Without Cents, 1944

CarolC....I would never presume to even suggest what women are allowed or not allowed to do or get. I have lived exclusively with women (wives, daughters, and even female dogs) for well over 30 years. I only meant that many women have scoffed at the 3 stooges deeming it juvenile, male-oriented humour (I stuck a U in humor so you would think I am from Canada) which I why my Stooge watching has been confined to my small room in the basement. Never having fallen under the spell of the Stooges, I freely grant the ladies any interest I might have had in their repertoire for a fee of three peppercorns, paid every fourth St Swithin's Day.

Even the dogs won't watch them with you dw? Man, that's rough.

I don't know, mack. I've been watching them since I was about four years old. Is this fee retroactive?

When I was a kid, my mom would not let my brothers and I watch the stooges. However, my grandfather (her dad) liked the stooges, so when he was visiting, we could watch them. I can understand and appreciate the arguments against the stooges, but you know, I still watch them when they're on. Some comedic film bits never get any better than that.

My fee is retroactive to the day it was posted. Or later, if you prefer.

Later works for me.

Does anyone know the name of the Stooges' intro music, if it has one?

I did know the name of it, but I've forgotten - wasn't 'babes in toyland' the theme tune of Abbott & Costello?

The Stooges song that sticks in my mind is one that Curly sang. The boys were stuck with an infant and they were preparing a dinner for the child. Curly was washing vegetables in the kitchen sink (using soap, of course) and he start singing:

"When I was born in Argentina-a-a-a-"

LOL I can't tell you how many New Year's Eve parties I have been either late for, or have just plain skipped, because of the Stooges. There is always some station (AMC/TNT/TBS ad stoogeum) that is having a marathon on New Year's....It's a sickness.

There must be a Stooges songbook out there.
