Subject: RE: Lyr Req: List of Things to Do (Lee Marshall) From: GUEST,LYRIC ADD ................ 999 Date: 13 Sep 12 - 03:11 PM List of Things To Do Michael A. Curtis and Lee Marshall I'm writing down my list of things to do Just in case I'm not around to do these things for you Remind your loving daddy wash the bottles and the bibs To match your bows and dresses when he takes you out with him Your mommies little angel and oh what would I give To be there for you…there for you I'm writing down my list of things to do Just in case I'm not around for your first day of school Listen to your teacher and mind your manners please If daddy fixes dinner he's great with mac and cheese And each night when you say your prayers down there on your knees Remember me… remember me The devil hurt my body so heaven's called me home I'll be watching with the angels so you'll never be alone There's so much that I want to say to this little girl of mine But the doctors say it's won't be long I'm running out of time So I'm writing down my list of things to do Knowing I won't be around to do these things for you Like help you make your prom dress and see you home that night And when your daddy walks you down the isle all dressed in white When you think about your mamma baby look into the light And know I'm alright… And no matter what you do…just remember… Mommy loves you. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: List of Things to Do (Lee Marshall) From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Jan 12 - 11:40 AM Lee Marshall now works for the Kids to Love Foundation, which she founded. She still lives in Huntsville. She has a separate web site called Lee Marshall Music. Her two albums are featured on CDBaby: "Anchored" (2004) and "My Source" (2006). Here's what I was able to transcribe from a sample there: LIST OF THINGS TO DO (CISSY'S SONG) - Excerpt As sung by Lee Marshall on "Anchored" (2004) ...[mommy's?] little angel, and oh, what would I give To be there for you, there for you. I'm writing down my list of things to do Just in case I'm not around your first day.... [I'm assuming this is the song our guest Cassie Hicks had in mind when she made the request.] |
Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do tod From: GUEST,Guest Date: 16 Apr 04 - 09:38 PM The song is called "List of Things To Do." The singer is a local Huntsville, AL lady named Lee Marshall. She has a web site where you can buy the CD with the song on it (www.leemarshallmusic.com). The song was inspired by a local lady who discovered that she had breast cancer when she was pregnant. She recently passed away. Lee Marshall works for a local news station (www.waff.com) and she interviewed the lady several times. The lady made a list for her husband before she died. Hope this helps. |

Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: Jim Dixon Date: 08 Apr 04 - 12:13 AM Toby Keith recorded MY LIST on his album "Pull My Chain" (2001), but it was written by Rand Bishop and Tim James. Bishop and James have expanded their song into a book: "My List: 24 Reflections on Life's Priorities," McGraw-Hill – with a foreword by Toby Keith. AMG - All Music Guide doesn't show that anyone else has covered the song. |

Subject: Lyr Add: NO CHARGE (Harlan Howard) From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 07 Apr 04 - 04:48 PM So I was wrong about the singer. NO CHARGE As recorded by Melba Montgomery Writer: Harlan Howard Recitation: My little boy came up to me In the kitchen this evening While I was fixing supper And he handed me a piece of paper He'd been writing on And after wiping my hands on my apron I read it and this is what it said: For mowing the yard - five dollars For making my own bed this week - one dollar Going to the store - fifty cents Playing with little brother While you went to the store - twenty-five cents Taking out the trash - one dollar Getting a good report card - five dollars And for raking the yard - two dollars Total owed - fourteen seventy-five Well, I looked at him standing there expectantly And a thousand memories flashed through my mind And so I picked up the pen and turning the paper over This is what I wrote: For nine months I carried you Growing inside me - NO CHARGE For the nights I've sat up with you Doctored you, prayed for you - NO CHARGE For the time and the tears That you cost through the years There's NO CHARGE When you add It all up The full cost of my love is NO CHARGE For the nights filled with dread And the worries ahead, NO CHARGE For the advice and knowledge And the cost of your college - NO CHARGE For the toys, food and clothes And for wiping your nose There's NO CHARGE When you add It all up The full cost of my love is NO CHARGE Recitation: Well, when he finished reading He had great big old tears in his eyes And he looked up at me and said "Mom, I sure do love you." Then he took the pen And in great big letters he wrote: "Paid In full" Tag: When you add it all up, the cost of real love is NO CHARGE Roger in Baltimore |

Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 Apr 04 - 03:07 PM The station would probably be Lite 96.9 WRSA, Huntsville, AL, "soft rock, less talk." Their "playlist" is a short list of "songs you'll hear regularly on Lite 96.9." I think it's intended just to give you an idea of what kind of music they play. But you could e-mail them. |
Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: GUEST Date: 07 Apr 04 - 02:54 PM Another suggestion - unlikely I think, but worth a try ... The B side of Helen Reddy's song 'Angie Baby', which was called (I think)'Think I'll write a song'. It must be twenty five years since I last heard it, but as best as I can remember it is a woman listing all the household chores she should be doing instead of writing a song. Guess it was a way of deferring writing rather than deferring the chores. I've forgotten how to do line breaks, but first verse goes something like : Foggy day in L.A. - think I'll write a song. Know exactly what to say - shouldn't take too long. First I better clear my head Feed the baby, make the bed. Should eat breakfast but instead Think I'll write a song. |
Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 07 Apr 04 - 02:29 PM Could it be, "I'm a WOoo-man?" I think it may have been recorded on an early album by Maria D'Amato (now Maria Muldar). |
Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: GUEST,Joe Date: 07 Apr 04 - 12:30 PM Won't the radio show involved have posted the playlist? That might at least give you a clue. |
Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: fretless Date: 06 Apr 04 - 04:00 PM If it weren't for the passing away part, I'd have thought it was Robin and Linda Williams' Liza: "Today is Monday, Tomorrow's Tuesday, Wednesday soon be comming 'round. Better get up, better get moving, The week's half over and the washing ain't done." |
Subject: RE: HELP WITH A SONG!!!!!!PLEASE: things to do today From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Apr 04 - 03:35 PM Hi, Cassie - I'm not familiar with the song. I changed your thread title a bit so it reflects at least a bit of information about the song. Threads with generic titles like "help with a song" tend to get lost. Keep checking this thread - you never know when you'll get an answer. The way Mudcat works, most people post their answers here in the forum, and may or may not send you an answer by e-mail. Good luck finding your song. -Joe Offer- |
