The verse is not found in "Dang Me". The song is at The Record Lady's All-Time Country Favorites (Real Country Archives Page 3).

Well, if it's not "Dang Me," it might be "Kansas City Star" or "Takes All Kinds to Make a World". I'm sure it's Roger Miller. I can hear him singing it.
Blessings,
Barbara

Kansas City Star Lyrics
Artist: Roger Miller

Kansas City Star

Artist: Roger Miller (peak Billboard position # 31 in 1965)
Words and Music by Roger Miller

Got a letter just this mornin' it was postmarked Omaha
It was typed and neatly written offerin' me this better job
Better job at higher wages, expenses paid and a car
But I'm on TV here locally and I can't quit, I'm a star

Hah-ha I come on TV grinnin,' wearin' pistols and a hat
It's a kiddy show and I'm a hero of the younger set
I'm the number one attraction every supermarket parkin' lot
I'm the king of Kansas City, no thanks, Omaha, thanks a lot

CHORUS:
Kansas City star, that's what I are
Yodel-deedle ay-hee, you oughta see my car
I drive a big old Cadillac with wire wheels, got rhinestones on the spokes
I got credit down at the grocery store
And my barber tells me jokes
I'm the number one attraction every supermarket parkin' lot
I'm the king of Kansas City, no thanks, Omaha, thanks a lot

CHORUS

SPOKEN: Stay tuned, gonna have a Popeye cartoon in a minute

Close, but no prize. Interesting how the same themes crop up in so many of his songs. Here it is, though. DO WACKA DO.
Blessings,
Barbara

Album: King of the Road
Do-wacka-do

Well, I hear tell
You're doin' well –
Good things have come to you.
I wish I had your happiness,
And you had a do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do.
They tell me
You're runnin' free –
Your days are never blue.
Well, I wish I had your good-luck charm,
And you had a do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do.
I see you goin' down the street in your big Cadillac –
You got girls in the front – got girls in the back!
Yeah, and way in the back, you got money in a sack;
Both hands on the wheel and your shoulders rared back!
Rit-dit-dit-dit-dit-da-do-der…
Well, I hear tell
You're doin' well –
Good things have come to you.
I wish I had your happiness,
And you had a do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do.
[Scat singing]
I see you goin' down the street in your big Cadillac –
You got girls in the front – girls in the back!
Yeah, and way in the back, you got money in a sack;
Both hands on the wheel and your shoulders rared back!
Rit-dit-dit-dit-dit-da-do-der…
Well, I hear tell
You're doin' well –
Good things have come to you.
I wish I had your good-luck charm,
And you had a do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do-wacka-do.
Da-doop-da-doople-dum!

Reminds me of the pop song

Keep your hands on the wheel
Keep your eyes on the road.
...
...
We're in the back seat, hugging & a kissing with Fred.

Stroupe:

Seven little girls, sittin' in the back seat
Huggin' and a-kissin' with Fred
I said "Why don't one of you
Come up and sit beside me?"
And this is what the seven girls said...

Keep your mind on your driving,
Keep your hands on the wheel
Keep your (snoopy?) eyes on the road ahead.
We're having fun sitting in the back seat
Huggin' and a-kissin' with Fred

I drove through the town
I drove through the country
To show them how my motor could go
I said "how do you like my dual carburettor?"
And the 7 girls whispered quite low,
"All together now, 1, 2, 3.."

Keep your mind on your driving,
Keep your hands on the wheel
Keep your (snoopy?) eyes on the road ahead.
We're having fun sitting in the back seat
Huggin' and a-kissin' with Fred

-------------------(?)
-------------------(?)
I said "You don't need me,
I'll get out at my house"
And this is what the seven girls said...

Definitely "snoopy", and I seem to remember the carburetter was triple, not double. And wasn't the last verse just:

Seven little girls, sittin' in the back seat
Huggin' and a-kissin' with Fred
I said "You don't need me,
I'll get out at my house"
And this is what the seven girls said...

SEVEN LITTLE GIRLS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT
Lyrics by: Lee Pockriss and Bob Hilliard
Recorded by Paul Evans & The Curls, 1959

(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom.
Dee doody doom doom, DOOM.)

Seven little girls, sittin' in the back seat,
Huggin' and a-kissin' with Fred.
I said, "Why don't one of you come up and sit beside me?"
And this is what the seven girls said:

CHORUS: (All together now, one, two, three:
Keep your mind on your drivin';
Keep your hands on the wheel;
Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead.
We're havin' fun, sittin' in the back seat,
Kissin' and a-huggin' with Fred.

(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom.
Dee doody doom doom, DOOM.)

Drove through the town, drove through the country,
Showed 'em how a motor could go.
I said, "How do you like my triple carburetor?"
And one of them whispered low: CHORUS

(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom.
Dee doody doom doom, DOOM.)

Seven little girls smoochin' in the back seat,
Every one in love with Fred.
I said, "You don't need me. I'll get off at my house,"
And this is what the seven girls said: CHORUS

All of them in love with Fred.
(Dee doody doom doom.)
Kissin' and a-huggin' with Fred.
(Dee doody doom doom.)
Wish that I could be like Fred.
(DOOM.)

What's a Nash rambler? When I learned that song, it was a bubble car and a limosine. Was the UK or the US version the original?
