Subject: Tech: Clearing Cache from the Server Side?
From: jeffp

I'm working on a web site for our company and we need to ensure that the latest versions of the information posted there will be seen by our employees. Unfortunately, sometimes when someone accesses the page, they get what they had in cache, rather than the new version. This can be fixed by clearing cache, but we can't count on these folks to do that. Is there some way that we can force the cache to be cleared or ignored from our side?

BTW, we're writing for both Netscape and Explorer.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Jeff

That was "The Good GUEST", the one who refused to go over to the Dark Side and stuck with old Obi Wan Kenobi.

There's a standard META tag does this at the top of the page to ensure that only the latest version of the page is loaded and the cache is ignored, or rather the page is not cached - don't have the references to hand at moment - no-cache I think it is... I don't use it very often.

M E T A H T T P - E Q U I V = " P r a g m a " C O N T E N T = " n o - c a c h e "

ensures that latest copy of page is got from the source, not the cache.
