Hi Guys,

I know some of you expressed an interest in going to Moreton Midsummer Folk Festival 2004 11-13th of June, weve nearly sold half of the allocated camping tickets so if you are planning to go get in their quick as the camping will be sold out rather quickly.

Theres still plenty of day tickets left, so dont have to worry about that.

Should be a cracker, The Mini Melodeon Competition this year is sponsored by Thrift Music!

I've been last three or four years and its a good one. Nice village as well.

Thought I'd make the suggestion as we are one of the nearest folk clubs (Respect to Blackmore FC) that any time this year or for the future, that if you want us to host a 'folk club'
at Moreton festival, we'd be up for it.

Good luck with the planning. Its nice to have a festival on the doorstep

Thanks for letting us know about that, we would have really appreciated you guys running the folk club at moreton, however this year one of the pubs is not fully open and we are lacking in venue space, so we've got a kind of folk club that turns into a session going on which should be run by Ken Lees and Kevin Shiels. If you told us a few months ago we could have programmed it in somewhere, however if you have any suggestions email [e-mail]
As part of this festival is showing what local talent we have around essex and supporting local clubs.Thats why we have always booked local bands (except the saturday noght ceilidhs)
Anyway,thanks for all your words of support, at this moment of time the village committee are trying to persuade everyone to not put it on next year, and it seems like only my family are the only ones who want to keep it going, so I expect this will be the last festival.

Of course our club is in Walthamstow which is really Essex so we are sort of local ;-)

You don't have to follow that 1960's GLC restructuring, geography is geography whatever the politicians say, just ask the Middlesex folk.

Anyway it looks like there'll be plenty of Waltham Abbey and other folk around so the "club" sessions should be good.

Dave (my ex allegro music co worker) said it may be the White Hart or something.Apparently the back bar of the Hart may be open for sessions and clubs though.And theres a beer tent on the marquee.

Ive never been to Moreton as im more of a rocker myself, I prefer to mosh and get fucked, but Dave said I could do that in the campsite, so im coming!
