If you are looking for a good sing, try the Fox and Hounds Weekend on the 14, 15, and 16 May at the Fox and Hounds pub, Bridestowe on Dartmoor. Good campsite, excellent landlord, good singing. No booked guests. The weekend was set up over 10 years ago as a response to singers who were looking for a small, friendly venue where they could just sing, play, recite or whatever. It's been going ever since. PM Cats for details.

I've not been before, but I'm certainly looking forward to this year. I already know quite a few good singers who will be there.

I really, really want to come along, but I may not be able to *sob*...

Ummm - haven't found 'Cats' as a member, so I'm not sure how GUEST,Cats can receive PM's. Or is the member name different?

Yes Cats is a member but when I am work I'm a guest Cats!!! I'm definitley there as I have been PM'd before. Failing that..turn up at the Fox and Hounds and you'll be very welcome.

Guru - we sat next to you on the table at the Winter Reunion at Sidmouth and I sang in the Saturday concert at Miskin.

Ah yes, I thought perhaps Cats was yourself.....

Did try 'Cats' to PM but the name didn't come up as a member. Don't know whats wrong with my PC!

If there's any way I can get there I will, this sounds like an unmissable weekend for singers!!

I'm so sorry, because I won a free ticket for the weekend, donated by Jon and Kathy, in the raffle in Jim Mageean's Endeavour singarounds at Whitby last year, but I won't be able to make it for the weekend. And I'll be in Exeter tomorrow and Tuesday for work, which just rubs it in....

I'm sure that a good time will be had by all who get to the Fox and Hounds.

Best wishes

Kitty

It will be brilliant as usual!!! Take a pub with an Irish landlord who doesn't like closing and loves the craic, a site that has it's own range of accommodation from tents to hotel rooms, friends, old and new, who just come to sing, a stunning area which is a must for anyone who likes to walk or visit National Trust / English Heritage type properties, combined with a sing when you fancy it and no pressure to do anything.... Chill out. Fox and Hounds is a very laid back weekend. See you there.

PS If you have tried to PM for details I'll get back asap but I've had the dastardly virus that shits everything down.

.... and to continue the South West theme from one wot grew up down there many eons ago... there is a good little folk club on Wed nights in Malborough just outside Salcombe and another now in Kingsbridge (thursdays I think). Any way I stumbled across them while visiting aged parent and they were very welcoming and friendly...even to a South Hams escapee

Just got back from Fox and Hounds. Wonderful weekend, superb weather, excellent singing - Snuffy carried on until dawn!, then a group of intrepid walkers!!! walked up to the top of one of the nearby Tors and sang at about 7am on Sunday morning, whilst the rest of us slept on.... Some really excellent songs out this weekend, not just those that everyone can join in with but a fair few serious songs and ballads came out. Put it in your diary for next year. 3rd Weekend in May.

Thanks Folks! We can't always guarantee the weather - we had snow a few years back - but we can guarantee a very different weekend. How many other festivals do you know that have a sing on top of the Tors to see up the sun? (non obligatory, I hasten to add!)
Frank sends his regards to all and says you are welcome at the pub even if it's not the weekend.
