The excellent singer/songwriter Adrian May will be our guest at the Waltham Abbey Folk Club on Monday 10th May. Some of you will remember Adrian as a solo artist, with Spring Chickens and the New Sneakers. He writes some wonderful songs, but has not been on the scene much over the last few years as he has been busy studying and is now a Doctor of Literature at Essex University. Adrian is a unique performer and really worth seeing.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club meets at the Royal British Legion, Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey, Essex every Monday night from 8:30 to 11:00. All performers and audience are given a warm, if not ecstatic, welcome.

Please contact me if you have any queries.

Don't forget the Waltham Abbey FC Weekend Away to the Moreton Festival - Friday 11th to Sun 13th June. £22-50 for the weekend inc camping. I'm sending off a block booking next week. Contact me for further details

Hi
Due to a mix ue, I've ended up with a massive box of stuff, bingo, lottery tickets etc that should have been delivered to the legion at Waltham Abbey.

I haven't been able to contact Barbara or Norrie yet. So if anyone sees them, can they say I have them, and will arrange delivery somehow (its a big box).

Simon

Ps Lynne, nice one for organising Moreton

Neat to see postings from W A where my great grandparents lived.

Signed Penny in Florida.

Penny

Try and make it over sometime. A bit far just for the Monday, but anytime you want to discover your roots on a holiday, make sure you look in

Ps.The centrepiece of Waltham Abbey is a really nice church. I think King Harold was buried there.

Harlowpoet!

Great Grandpa Richard Henry Scott is buried in Waltham Abbey Cemetary.

I hope to someday connect him to the poet, John Scott!

Maybe someday I'll make it over there.

Penny

If I get a chance in the next month or so, I'll borrow a digital camera and visit the cemetery and see if I can get a picture of the headstone and mail it to you.
Let me know if you'd like me to.

Four pounds, is the price of the stay
If you come and see Adrian May
Its here and it's live
(Don't drink, if you drive)
And they serve cheap Mcmullens AK

It's well worth a trip
So don't let this chance slip
For Adrian May
You don't see every day.

Well, that was a fab evening. Adrian was just as good as he always had been and there was an excellent turnout.

Hadn't seen him in years. He's mellowed, but just as good as ever, if not better.

Thanks, Dr May, who none could call unkindly!

Oh, yes, and well done, Lynne, for booking him.

Alan
