Well of course it is BS but it's also music- decisions, decisions...

And I have Checked The DigiTrad or Forum for This Topic First.

If you don't understand, you should have been at UK: Barrow on Humber Eurogather April 30

From the tuning heads, it's definitely a six string small dog.

Depends on whether the dog is "standard" or "high-strung".

I would imagine it also depends on whether or not the dog is wire-haired; and if it has a long neck?

As far as I could see, the dog only had one head! ;-)

Why does everybody always want somebody else to tell them how to tune their small dogs? Just experiment! Tune his left front leg to a D. Then tune the right front leg to whatever note you think makes a pleasing interval. Continue on around the whole dog and then strum the thing. If it sounds good just play around with it for a while and see what happens. Try "Soldier's Joy" or something and see if the fingering is comfortable. If it doesn't work, just start over. Just be careful not to break any legs.

The question was what tunigs do you use for a small dog - not what songs are appropriate to smalldog tuning.

Well, from the depths of a vanishing memory,...
Spike Jones once used a goat on one of his recordings. There was a sizeable flap with the Musician's Union as to whether the goat was a musician (i.e. had to pay dues) or a musical instrument. Don't recall how that one came out.

I have just surfaced from the winter silstoce (yes that is the correct spelling you nerds). I find my Sir name is being taken for a ryde. Lay off plebs. If you don't understand what it is to be a fully paid up dog then leave off.

As for you Noreen. Just wait until you try and stroke my neck and tickle my ears. I now have influence in Limbrick and can have your passport revoked.

However it is tuned, the best dog on which to play a haunting melody is the Airdale.

Come on you people! There is only one way to play a dog. You grab the ears in one hand and the tail in the other and you play them like accordians. Cats on the other hand are best played as bagpipes. Bite the tail while squeezing the feline under your arm.

Ulleann pipe tuning? Or a squeeze in the right place could produce the most effective pitch, with no tuning at all.

Well my 3 cats are all tuned to the key of Eow. I have been able to get 3 octaves out of them but only when I use the Doc Marten method.

Dogs are definately wind instruments.

The aforementioned Doc Martin method turned my dog into a blacksmith.
When I applied the remedy he made a bolt for the door.

Well, you folks have certainly broadened my understanding of animals as instruments. Thank you so much. For an historical account of an actual pet duet, please go to the Mudcat perma thread entitled Mudcat Story Tellers' Page. Find "Abnormal Feline Behaviour in the Artic". The fourth paragraph deals with just such an episode.
