Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: GUEST,Shlio Date: 18 May 04 - 05:59 PM Georgiansilver, that reminds me a lot of "Farmer's Servant". Very amusing songs. If you'd rather have even more questionable lyrics, "I Wish I Was A Lesbian" by Loudon Wainwright might be a good one. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 18 May 04 - 03:07 PM You might try Bill Chappell's website. Some of the songs are pretty funny such as "Fred's Got Everything", some push the limits of good taste such as P.T.A. (Peeping Tom Anonymous), and It's Not Easy Being Sleazy and almost anything about chickens. Bill Chappell |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Georgiansilver Date: 17 May 04 - 10:29 AM I knew an old farmer and I knew him well, He had a daughter and her name, was Nell. Nell was so pretty and only sixteen, When I showed her the works of my threshing machine. We went to a barn and we went us inside, There in the corner, some straw we espied. Nell worked the throttle and I worked the steam, As I showed her the works of my threshing machine. Six months has gone past and all is not well, For something has happened to our little Nell. And under her apron can clearly be seen, The dirty old works of my threshing machine. Nine months has gone past and all is now well, A baby is born to our little Nell. And under his nappy can clearly be seen, A brand new, two cylinder, threshing machine. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: GUEST,Larry K Date: 17 May 04 - 09:02 AM You may want to check out the Assylum Street Spankers. They have a bunch of "r" rated material like "If you love me, you'll sleep on the wet spot" and "Scrotum" and many others. Also try Camille West. Very funny lady with some questionable tastle. She has been touring with the 4 Bitchin Babes for the past several years. I went to a workshop of hers a few years ago, and she said that people need a sense of humor today- today more than ever. If you do funny material, she said that people somewhere will come up to you and tell you its offensive. 100 people may laugh, but one may find it offensive. Her usual answer to that is "And your point is" There is also a tape/Cd of twisted Christmas songs. "The rest room door said gentleman" and many others. Surely bound to make most people laugh and offend some others. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Big Al Whittle Date: 16 May 04 - 09:51 PM the trouble is some people are plain intolerant, and they will question taste until everything is bland and boring. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: JWB Date: 16 May 04 - 09:31 PM Anything by John Valby ("Doctor Dirty")is, without question, of questionable taste. Australia has Kevin Bloody Wilson, who is as filthy as Valby but with an accent (one of his starts out, "Hey, Santa Claus, you c___t, where's my f____ing bike?"). I've heard through the grapevine that there's a CD coming out in June of uncensored sailor songs. There's bound to be some really inappropriate stuff on that one. Jerry |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: RWilhelm Date: 16 May 04 - 06:47 PM Ebay always seems to have copies of Oscar Brand's albums "Bawdy Songs and Backroom Ballads" (at least 3 volumes that I know of.) Even though he did bowdlerize a bit, some of songs are still pretty questionable. Cats on the rooftop, cats on the tiles Cats with the clap and the crabs and the piles Cats with their butts all wreathed in smiles As they revel in the throws of fornication. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Mr Red Date: 16 May 04 - 05:16 PM Bat Goddess That song about yeast infection - er would that be "the Thrush in the Clear Air"? - FWIw that thrush don't like yoghurt too much (trust me) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: DonD Date: 16 May 04 - 04:42 PM Questionable taste? What is questionable taste? Ah, that is the question. At a Police Athletic League luncheon this week, attended mostly by proxy underlings of those who had paid the $75 tab, we were assailed by "God Bless America" sung by Celine Dion! I swear it took a half an hour!! "To the Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-shuns, white with foooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooam". That was bad taste! But two days later I enjoyed a concert by the Arrogant Worms, and their songs about Jesus's brother Bob, and about the Alligator progressively chomping away portions of people, sung a la Barney, that was in great taste. Go figure. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: emjay Date: 16 May 04 - 12:16 AM The King of the Cannibal Islands I always thought this was pretty questionable. Oh have you heard this story of late? For if you've not it's on my pate About the mighty potentate, The king of the cannibal islands. Hokey pokey winky wong Polly makook a moly kong Hangery rangery chingery ching The king of the cannibal islands. (I never tried to spell those words before. This is literally a song I learned at my mother's knee.) Woman pudding, baby sauce Little boy pie for second course, He ate them all without any remorse, The king of the cannibal islands. He dined on clergymen cold and raw He never had more at a meal than four He ate them all without license or law The king of the cannibal islands. The last words of this monarch bold Were not bequeathing his wealth nor gold But warning all against clergymen cold the king of the cannibal islands |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: JohnInKansas Date: 15 May 04 - 10:28 PM Depending on circumstance, a couple of Mike Cross songs come to mind: "Bill's Funeral" "If heaven is glad, when sinners cease to sin, If the devil is glad when another soul comes in, If the earth is glad, to be rid of a knave Then everybody's happy, 'cause Bill is in his grave." or "Best Friend" "The best friend I ever had has run off with my wife And left me here alone to face the trouble of my life .... He didn't have to sneak her off, I would 'a helped 'em pack But he'll still be my best friend long as he don't bring her back. ... In time he'll come to realize the nature of his luck And then he'll learn to love her like a 'possum loves a truck." etc. John |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: open mike Date: 15 May 04 - 09:43 PM there is one about the dogs who went to a party and hung their assholes by the door, when a fire broke out they did not have time to grab their own on the way out...thus they are forever sniffing to see if they can find their own again! as for bawdy ballads, I am sure there are many. Someone (Donovan?) did one about space travellers with explicit details about how they take care of bodily functions in outer space. The Intergalactic Laxative offends some, if it is offensive you are looking for... |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Midchuck Date: 15 May 04 - 09:06 PM One of my all-time favorites, both for bad taste, and as a "real" cowboy song - such as a working cowboy would be most likely to sing for his own amusement, is The Castration of the Strawberry Roan. Peter. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Bat Goddess Date: 15 May 04 - 10:53 AM Then there's some, uh, questionable "girl humor" -- Cozy Sheridan wrote a lovely song about a vaginal yeast infection. Not many songs around about that. Also about all the gross things you consider eating that you find inside your car while on a late night trip to or from a gig. How about Two Nice Girls singing "I Spent My Last 10 Dollars On Birth Control and Beer"? Jimmy McDougal singing "Bigfoot Stole My Wife" ? The Bus Boys singing "There Goes the Neighborhood" or "KKK"? Lots of questionable taste that doesn't even involve sex. Ed Cray pretty much has the bawdy end of things covered in "The Erotic Muse" -- but also try to find (can't remember the author) "When the Whorehouse Bells Are Ringing" with erotic cowboy songs. I also have a book on infanticide in Scotland as told through song. Now that's not for the squeamish. Linn |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: JohnInKansas Date: 15 May 04 - 10:42 AM Check the mudcat auction: "The Erotic Muse." It's up to $15.50 bid, which is still reasonable for the first ed. reprint. There's been some discussion in a couple of recent threads. John |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Mr Red Date: 15 May 04 - 08:06 AM There was a guy whos name escapes me right now but he was on the artists list at Upron FF (May 1st ish) and opened with a song about ladies' flatulance mid day Sunday! which if nothing else set the scene for his set. I was on the door! I will post his name when the grey cells kick-in today. Anyone fellow stewards help? (PM me) Meanwhile I have a song called "Vomit Blues" which I did one night with a bucket and a bit of dry mix starting with "Well I threw-up this morning" and allowed the mix to trickle out of my fist (to my mouth) into the bucket. One lass told me "that was sick" - somewhat observant I would say. PM if the notion appeals. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: DonMeixner Date: 15 May 04 - 07:42 AM Thanks all. we have Songs that made America Famous, thats the direction I think he is looking. And here is where the taste comes in, I find Loudon Wainwright insightful and Randy Newman inspired. Don |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs of questionable taste From: Midchuck Date: 15 May 04 - 07:05 AM I believe Pat Sky's Songs That Made America Famous has been reissued on CD. This is about the ultimate as far as anything ever published. I was actually surprised it was reissued. I thought political correctness had progressed to far since it came out on vinyl that "they" wouldn't permit it. Just checked. It has in fact been reissued. Peter. |
