Funchal is a lovely spot in the world. I was there some 30 years ago. Beautiful island, beautiful bay, and wonderful wine.

Have a nice holiday John, but along with Padre and Foolstroupe, I somehow thought there was going to be a Tom Dooley (Dula) reference here!

I shall be in Funchal the capital of Madeira for my first visit. It is just a short break, and it's mainly for the benefit of my SOs 86 year old Mum. I'm looking forward to it though, and intend to take afternoon tea at Reeds Hotel.
I just thought I'd let y'all know, in case you were worried at my absence [sic]. More drivel in a week or so when I get back.
Au revoir.
JGM
