In Andy M Stewart's song 'Rambling Rover', a line in the chorus states '..from Orkney down to Dover'. I've heard this sung as 'docree'? down to Dover'. Is docree (don't know the spellink) just wrong or some kind of Celtic alternative? Or do my ears need syringing?

Well, since Andy M Stewart sings "Orkney", I'd tend to take his word for it, and in any version I've heard, it was always "Orkney"..

Never heard of "Docree" or anything similar...

Wouldn't be the first time someone screwed up the words, drunk or no. I've heard many laughable and not-so-laughable misheard lyrics performed and recorded even.

I know someone who sings it as "and I'll knock me down to dover"

"Getting the words of a recently written song THAT wrong is, in MY opinion, Unforgiveable"

That reminds me of a Dutch group who murdered the Cyril Tawney song Sally Free And Easy: "Think I'll wait till sunrise (sic), see my enzymes down..."
