Subject: RE: Waltham Abbey (UK) folk club 24/5/04 From: Lanfranc Date: 21 May 04 - 07:19 PM I could offer "Rain" by Lennon & McCartney, "Four Strong Winds" by Ian & Sylvia Tyson, "Rain on the Roof" by John Sebastian, "Sunny" by Bobby Hebb, "Chilly Winds" as sung by Johnny Cash, and possibly "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan, and maybe "Fire and Rain" if nobody else gets there first. Subject: RE: Waltham Abbey (UK) folk club 24/5/04 From: GUEST,harlowpoet Date: 22 May 04 - 05:53 AM My personal definition of a folk song means it has to be able to hold up accoustically. That said I wouldn't describe something like Raining in My Heart as a folk song, for example. Its too poppish. I'd call the Sun Has Got Its hat on a folk song, though I wouldn't buy a CD, if it was on there. |
