We've a singaround on Monday 24 May. The theme is the weather. One of my favourite songs of all time is Fire and Rain (James Taylor). Whoever sings it can have a pint on me.

Blue clicky to follow, but key in Waltham Abbey Folk Club on google and details will come up.

Simon

Look I don't want to get all pedantic here but for goodness sake they're called LINKS.

Not "Blue Clickies" or "Spidery Bonbons" or anything else. Links.

And they're called that on account of how they LINK pages together. Hence the expression LINK.

Blue clickies my arse.

Is it knocking off time yet?

Soon you'll get people saying the Beatles weren't folk.

Anyone gonna sing Here comes the sun then?

I'm sure Dreadnought might be up for it, but don't forget the stringy plucky thingy, my friend

I could offer "Rain" by Lennon & McCartney, "Four Strong Winds" by Ian & Sylvia Tyson, "Rain on the Roof" by John Sebastian, "Sunny" by Bobby Hebb, "Chilly Winds" as sung by Johnny Cash, and possibly "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan, and maybe "Fire and Rain" if nobody else gets there first.

"You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows ..." (Bob Dylan)

My personal definition of a folk song means it has to be able to hold up accoustically. That said I wouldn't describe something like Raining in My Heart as a folk song, for example. Its too poppish.

I'd call the Sun Has Got Its hat on a folk song, though I wouldn't buy a CD, if it was on there.

Went along two summers ago, and it was a good club. It made the course in London, worthwhile..

Glad to see it still seems to be going on strong.

Jim, glad you enjoed ut.

Here's the next limerick from the club publicity dept.

On Monday, we'll get it together
And find songs to sing, of the weather
Though, that's not a rule
And it's magic, if you'll
Find a distant link, keeping it clever

Whether the weather be cold
or whether the weather be hot
we weather the weather
whatever the weather
whether we like it or not
