The Planxty Live at Vicar street ( reunion concerts ) will be released on DVD and cd end of this week, 28th. Looking forward to it!

I think it is the same as the one they showed on RTE a couple of weeks back.

Andy Irvine/ Planxty

I guess one shouldn't be surprised at the lack of interest in this very important release of an historic, live performance by a quintessential Irish trad super group, here at the largely anglocentric Mudcat.

I have seen the concert on RTE and have played the copy over and over, great stuff.

Well, Finbar at Claddagh Records would carry it for sure, but it just as likely will be available through Amazon, Music Scotland, and all the usual sources.

Here's some info from the Tara Records site:

Planxty Reunion

Jaysus, what I wouldn't have given to have been in Dublin this winter past.

Wouldn't it be grand if they decided to do a reunion tour?

Your luck is in then, it seems Christy Moore has said that it was more exciting than he thought and that they were infact planning to do another 12 GIGS beginning of next year.

I will be there for sure. I would guest if they were to do 12 more gigs they might have to produce some new material........maybe a new album. We'll see, but keep the ears open for early next year

According to Christy Moore's website the CD is released on the 29th May. If you go to ChristyMoore.com you can preorder a copy, which I have done, for 22 euros. Quick and easy and I cannot wait.

Thanks Elfcall, Much rather buy it off one of the members sites, than off some commercial site. Christy it is !! 22 euro's, a euro for almost every year we've wanted for the reunion.

Mike

Ah, but some of us English were there for this memorable high. Superb it was too, and will be getting a copy.

"I guess one shouldn't be surprised at the lack of interest in this very important release of an historic, live performance by a quintessential Irish trad super group, here at the largely anglocentric Mudcat." So guest is wrong or just jaundiced.

Always loved Planxty- Heard The Kangaroo on Mike Hardings show last week, and it sounded just as I remember it, which begs the question- are there any new songs/tunes,or is it going to be a re-vamp of those we already know and love -in which case I cant see myself buying it, although I would like to see them live.

I think the whole point really was for them to do the tracks that everyone one new and loved, but there is serious plans to do more live shows early next year with new material. I just don't think they thought it would have been as popular as it was.

I will buy it, I think all those old tracks could do with a live version, don't you??
