What fun!

I remember this harbour town well on our trek through greater Wales in 2006. Is it the Sailor Arms, the pub down at the lower harbour? Then there was the Royal Oak Tavern where we joined the folk music session. What a lovely bunch of folks!

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Never made it to Fishguard on my cycling trek a few years ago. Took sick in Borth and was laid up for the few days that would've covered that part of the trip. Have always regretted that. Will make up for it on my next visit that's for sure. Just checked out the link and it looks like a great event w/some awesome talent. To any and all who attend have a brilliant time.

It is a wonderful festival. We love it! Everything is very laid back and on 'Fishguard time' and very very friendly. Lots of opportunity for singarounds down in the old town and sessioning in the Royal Oak, and on the Sunday morning if you need a bit of a break Gary takes us out for a very informative walk around the neighbourhood to blow the cobwebs away. Splottie and I are looking forward to it again this year.

Fishguard Folk Festival, 27th to 30th May 2011
Over the past 11 years, the seaport town of Fishguard has been host to one of the UK's best small music festivals. This year's festival features Belshazzar's Feast & Hérétique, £10 & £8 per concert, …(buy both for £18 & £14)… 10 free concerts, plus a free family tympath/Ceilidh. Also featuring the popular guided 'Pirate and Smugglers' walk. With dance displays and workshops, where better to celebrate our music and song.

Dearest Splott Man,
All being well I will be! This is quite the loveliest of Festivals and a great favourite of mine. It's big enough to generate a terrific atmosphere in the town, all of whom KNOW about it and support it, yet small enough that everyone gets to know everyone else. It brings home what I have said for many years "That Folk music is as much about Folk (people) as it is about music and song"
I do hope our Irish friends can afford the Ferry fare this year, in the past their contribution has been inmmense, the music seesions in the "Oak" have been tremendous, and no doubt local favourites "Mainbrace" will bring their Quality and erudition, and produce a great "Sea Song Session" in the "Ship" ( Note the name of the Pub Charlie, and should you be there make yourself known!)
Just the saving up to do!
Bring it on!!!! I've friends to meet,
Cheers,
Scowie.

Mid Week, nice idea but how many working folkies can do this kind of festival?
Nice time for a holiday in a nice part of the principality.

27-30 May looks to me like like a weekend - in fact the Bank Holiday Weekend. It had better be or the Earl of Rone won't be found! Have a good one, we'll think of you from the other side of the sea (the Severn Sea that is).
