Subject: Review: John Williams at Manchester From: Flash Company Date: 27 May 04 - 10:38 AM Saw John Williams at Bridgewater Hall on Tuesday night 25-05-04. Opened with Mangore, Albeniz, Domeniconi, Sculthorpe and the well known composer Trad, then played all Venezualan music in second half. Magic! I realised yet again why I never became a guitarist, my grasshopper mind just couldn't have coped with all the practice necessary to play like that. FC |

Subject: RE: Review: John Williams at Manchester From: Big Al Whittle Date: 27 May 04 - 11:24 AM is he on tour? My favourite JW quote is "electric guitsr is about the way the note sustains, acoustic guitar is about the beauty of the note as it fades and decays" so thoughtful |

Subject: RE: Review: John Williams at Manchester From: Flash Company Date: 28 May 04 - 09:50 AM The single sheet Bridgewater Hall handout does not mention other dates, but as his new CD 'El Diablo Suelto' is all Venezualan music, I rather suspect he will be promoting it elsewhere. The only downside to the evening was the exercise by the BHMCB (Bridgewater Hall Militant Coughing Brigade) I really think some people only attend concerts to have a good cough during quiet performances. As the immortal Victor Borge once said 'I have heard people cough during this number, people who never coughed in their lives before!' FC |
