OK, serious for a sec. This thread is NOT helping me meet gals--just very strange guys. I am gone, and I am taking my briefs with me. So there.

Did ya hear about the fellow who bought briefs that were three sizes too small? He took 'em back to the store. The lady wanted to know why he was returning them. none is less appealing than ...

men's underpants. There's something - totally uninteresting, unpleasant, just, icky, about men's underpants.

especially after they've been washed & worn a few times. The faded yellow, the worn threads - pedestrian, totally utilitarian and just plain ugly.

so I guess my vote is - neither briefs NOR boxers, nor any other evocative reference to suchlike.

What I've never understood is why here in the UK, if you talk about "pants" they think you mean "underpants". Now it seems to me that if one MEANT underpants, they would have SAID underpants!

All of which has also led to a rather wonderful expression here as well, if something is just crap (as in bad), it's referred to as "pants".

No problem Ellen - Sometimes it's tricky to express in print. I generally dislike emoticons too, which limits me. Usually I only get mad on a few topics - sort of like the H.P thread - people not taking my (serious) words at face value. We worked that all out anyhow. There's a lot of good people around here, but we all make mistakes (except for Garg, of course - neither is he good or make mistakes, actually, I think he is the voice of god . . .


So what word do they use for pants? Tousers? Slacks? We have that term, too, but only dress pants (and frankly, why is that?)

By the way have you ever known a Frank to not be?

I don't put a profile on the place it goes because I am basically an uninteresting person. I teach school and work as a fire fighter. I'm 56, hetero and live in Alberta. Years ago I was involved in music. Three times in my life I voted for the party that won. That puts me outta the mainstream. Not really much more to say.

As to a picture, well, it's not likely I'll ever meet people from the 'cat. Also, I'm just a guy. Nothin' special to look at. However, that said, thanks for asking. Appreciate it.

Brucie you underestimate yourself and also the rest of us mudcatters. From what you write, you are HARDLY uninteresting! And if you have read the different profiles, you'll see what a mixed bunch we all are.

Perhaps that's why I like Mudcat. We're a pretty ordinary group of folk called here for myriad reasons to post, and read what others post.

It's your decision obviously, whether to contribute to the profiles/pics page or not, but don't for a minute ever think you have less to offer because of how you see yourself.

Jaysus. I figure by now I have voted in a ten or so federal elections, ten or so provincial elections, fifteen or so municipal elections. I am battin' about ten percent in terms of picking winners, and I just bet $20 with Greg that Bush loses in November (assuming he allows an election to take place). Jimmy the Grrek should see me before he establishes odds. Find out which way I'm voting and give ten to one for the other guy/gal. However, for ten seconds or so I run the country, province or city/town. Love it. I get to be the boss of the whole thing for ten seconds, and it always restores my faith in democracy. However, I do bitch at times. I am reminded of the evening a good friend from California called at 2:00 AM to inform me of Nixon's victory. My buddy was sh#tfaced. He said, "Well, once again the American people get what they deserve. But why do I have to keep getting what they deserve? (He and I had both worked hard for Eugene McCarthy.) Later.

because of an accident - that involved a lot of wetness I had to change to boxers today. As a kid I had to wear the old fashioned equivalent and rejoiced in the Jockey briefs, because they were comfortable.
As an engineer - I can reason why now. Boxers are a fashion statement. I prefer functionality. I have no boxers in my wardrobe.
